This is only my third post. I just ran a boost leak test on my car and found that there were two pin sized holes in my intercooler in one of the chambers, after sealing those with two JB weld coated screws i did the leak test again. The intercooler is no longer leaking but now i have a large leak from this small plastic part seen below and i don't know what it is, can someone please explain what it is and what i should do considering it is split across the middle and leaking lots of air? This would help me a lot, Thanks

That looks just like the "air filter" that came with my HKS ssqv BOV. Supposedly its supposed to keep some fuel "fuems" out of the intake manifold. Atleast thats what it does on my application. Although i have never seen one put in THAT place before

That, to me, appears to be a one way check valve used to direct airflow in one direction. If you remove it you should be able to blow through one direction and not the other, make sure you mark which side each peice of hose connected to so you don't reinstall it backwards, if that is what it is.

Let us know what you've found.

Also if you need to replace it, they are for sale for like $2.50 @ Adv. Auto or Autozone, just ask them for "One-way check valve".

its an air filter that stays inline with your boost gauge.

some people use them some people dont.

its kind of a check valve/ filter it comes with like everyone says boost guages or boost controllers my greddy spec 2 controller came with something similar

Agreed. Pull it and blow through it to confirm. There may be an arrow on the plastic body showing air direction.

If this check valve leaks air during my leak test would that meane it is bad or is that its function, I am going to see if i can get a replacement locally and see if it still leaks air through the new one. Thank you and I will let you all know.

If a check valve leaks air during your leak test, then yeah it's bad they aren't suppose to leak air at all.

I think you'd probably see a crack on it or something if were leaking, and if it were it's probably not a huge leak.

I say, perform the ol' DSM taste test. Mark that sucker which direction, pull it off and blow through it. If it blows in one direction and not the other then it's a check valve. I'm assuming you don't have any more of those small zip ties and that's why you're hesitating? :)

Well when taking the part off it broke into four pieces, there is a thin paper filter inside and air flows both ways. Could not find a replacement so I just threw a connector in its place. I have yet to run the car because I still need to flush the radiator and change my oil and filter
