A guy tried to tell me what cams would create more turbo lag and i told no it wouldn't. I know the cams move the powerband up and make more power in high rpms, but would the loss down low create more turbo lag or not? Don't cams more than compenstate for a small amount of power lost down low?

just browsing through the dsm shop here for cams, some people have recommended crower cams, but those were my mustang friends :p so its a different story, i wouldnt want to add any addition turbo lag so does anyone have any experience in this area that could make a recommendation?

If you are still on the T-25 as your profile suggests I wouldn't recommend cams as your next upgrade. The stock turbo can barley hold its own after 5k rpm as it is, let alone with more lift and duration that come from the addition of aftermarket cams. Follow the performance guide on this site and you'll be in good shape. If your profile is not updated, be sure to do so and further enlighten us to your situation.

Thanks eric, and yeah im still running the T-25, however friend of mine, evo boy just dropped a T35 kit from AMS into his evo and has his 16g6 just kickin around would that be a reliable swap over the a different 16G? i dont know the full specs/trims on the EVO8s 16g6.

Just wanted to add to these two posts.

Cams do create some lag yes.
The additional air let into the combustion chamber by the larger cams will require the turbo to move more air before it outflows the engine and creates pressure. The bigger the cam, the longer the lag.

Evo turbo's won't work on dsm's
Evo 1-3 turbos will work, but all the later versions won't because they are in reverse orientation to our turbos.

Crower makes good cams. How high can 272's rev with proper valve train? Is the lag from the cam going to be real noticable ?

I have been in a talon with BC cams, and my car which has HKS cams (272's). I am not being biased to my car, but I really like the HKS's better. This could be due to the way the car has been dialed (to have the turbo kick in at 3500rpms, really helped stop the lag), but I'd still say to go with HKS's if possible. Just my 2 c's.
