my turbo is dead, now i want to just replace it, but i want it to be smog legal, (altho im going to go to some small shop for that) i just need it to pass the emitions part of it, im thinking 16g but i dont know...

When I had my 2G, I passed with a S16G, FMIC, 3" turbo back (w/ 3" cat), DSMLINK, 650 cc, 180 LPH FP, Blitz BOV and K&N intake. Just make sure your trims are okay and that all your smog equipment is in proper working order.

Within reason, a turbo won't affect emissions in the test ranges, although tuning for high-output will. If you happen to have one of the two or three smog testers who are bright enough or would bother to look at the turbo and see that it's not stock, all bets are off.

i passed no problem w/ my small 16G, BPU....
however, he could only do a idle smog test, and not that "dyno roller" because he doesnt have an 4WD roller ...
