Ok I went to look at this 90tsi. He is a mitsubishi mechanic and said he rebuilt the motor himself. He also had advice from a very good dsm builder and said he did what the dsm guru told him.

He said its a 6 bolt with a 4g64 crank, some type of 6inch rods stock 2g flat top pistons. My question is what rods did he use? I know you need stroker pistons but he said he used stock n/a pistons. Im guessing there is a way to build one without the pistons, or is he blowing steam up my ass. I really trust the builder that told him what to do.

Also he said after about 500 miles the head gasket blew when he upped the boost because he used a cheap felpro head gasket. Does that sound right. Its in good shape, leather interior, all stock but the mysterious motor and a 16g. All valves looked fine and pistons where perfect. $800, does it sound like a good idea. Ohh yea also coilovers that are tight as hell and shitty ride, and pretty nice 17" rims.

He is blowing smoke up your ass. There is no possible way to use a 6" rod with a stock piston even in a 2.0 without sticking the piston out of the top of the bore. Add a 2.4 crank to the mix and it makes it even more impossible. On the 2.3 stroker piston, the wrist pin has to be moved up closer to the top of the piston with a 5.900" rod just to keep the piston in the bore. With the setup he supposedly has, the piston should be sticking out of the top of the block over 1/4" with the engine at tdc. If it has n/t pistons, my guess would be that it is just a stock n/t engine in the car. You are probably better off not buying the car because god only knows what other half ass work has been done to it.

Yea I know how a stroker works, just wondering if you can make one without the stroker pistons. Also what if it has a 2.4l bottom end with a 2.0 head???? Can this work?? I know for sure it has N/T pistons. My buddy bought it so wish us luck on fixing it and selling it.
