Well, I got a great deal on some HKS 272 cams from a friend and bought them. The question I am asking myself (and now all of you), is should I install them even though my turbo is only good for 350hp? I am planning on getting a much bigger turbo, but that probably won't happen for at least 6 months. I am left with 3 options as I see it.

1) Put em in! They may make a few extra hp up top, which is what I want anyway since i'm fwd.

2) Sell those suckers! I got a good deal on em, so I can sell em and make a small profit for my time.

3) Just store em in the shed till I get the new turbo and then put em on.

What do you guys think?
(Take into consideration I am running a stroker)

Thanks,

Nick

I would put them in. The cool thing is since you have a stroker the cams arent going to act like they would on a regular 4g63. They are going to be milder. And you are still going to get good power gains from them even if you arent running a crazy high horsepower turbo.

Nick.. Put them in!!! You'll need them when you upgrade your turbo in 6 months anyway. Seems pointless to me to sell them for a profit, just to buy some others at full price later. Kinda evens out you know??

Plus, your car will sound mean..

Great point about selling them. I'll rule that out. But, hks's aren't supposed to sound mean. (kinda like your bc 272's, LOL). I don't really want that sound anyway. Basically, it comes down to whether or not it will make power. i'll probably put them in even if they make 10-15 whp, but not if they make less. Thanks for the input guys.

What turbo are you using. I saw a cam test and they made a good 15hp accross the whole power band and about 5lb torque on a 16g. The 264/272 combo actually made a lot more torque but the same hp and would be a better combo for a small turbo.

But if your buying a new turbo then put them in and call it a day. I would upgrade the springs and retainers also just to be safe.
