ok so i have been going through my gsx and trying to get it running good before i get going on extra stuff. here is my problem, the owner before me "bypassed" the egr valve and i dont know what he did. first off the egr vlave is still there with no caps on it. is that ok to leave like that or should i cap it. second, there is a line going from the waste gate to a port on the intercooler pipe is that right. or should i just go through and put it all back to stock and then go from there. Third my boost gauge is not reading any vacume. i tapped it from the p port on the throttle body. does this mean i have a bad vacume leak. thanks

if I were you I'd install an egr block off plate or cap the vacuum fittings. as far as the vacuum line question, is the line running from the w/g actuator to the nipple on the turbo outlet pipe? if so, maybe the previous owner had installed a mbc and removed it before he sold it to you, and installed that line as a temp. fix...

just my 2 cents worth

so if that is a temp fix how would i correct it. and i will do a boost leak check in the next day or so. thanks guys for your help

to fix that vac line, look right under where your air filter is... you should see a little back solenoid that has 2 nipples on it.. like this

no pic

haha.. thats the best I can draw... its about an inch big and has wiring going in to the bottom.... that is the stock boost control solenoid... the top nipple on that should go to a vacuum source on the intake, and the nipple on the side goes to your wastegate... just run rubber vac lines to them.... DO NOT forget to do this... your car will not be able to control the boost on the car with out this hooked up.......

This is what the Boost Control Solenoid looks like. In your car as well as mine it sits directly over the air intake can, and there needs to be a vacuum line running from the nipple on the right side to the intake mani. and the bottom (other) nipple can be connected to the w/g actuator. This would be a good time to remove the bcs restrictor, which is accomplished by threading a screw just barely larger than the inside diameter of that bottom nipple, and pulling it back out, if you do it correctly, the screw will pull out a plastic plug which essentially reduces the i.d. of the bottom nipple.

yeah... thats the thing right there... take out that plug... give yourself 2 psi for free... you deserve it...

isnt that the one in the middle of the three solenoids that are mounted on the firewall right in front of the driver?

yes the fuel pressure regulator solenoid is the middle solenoid on the driver's side of the firewall. this is the best place to tap in for a boost gauge, just make sure that you tap into the line going from the fpr solenoid to the intake manifold, which I believe is the top line. There's already a cut in the line for you with a connector, just remove the connector and install a "T" fitting and you're in business!

ok so now i have vacume reading :D. i was looking for the wastegate solenoid and i found that it was missing so i guess it is time to get a boost controller. would this be why i am not getting the best fuel milage and the car smells like it is running rich?

werd ^^ Im running 15 psi on my turboxs mbc, only problem is in really cold weather (I'm talking 10 degrees) the air is so dense that I hit fuel cut, other than that I'm totally cool!

i will give the home made one a try just for a better temporary fix. but it still didnt answer my question of if the vacume hoses are hooked up as they are would i cause my car to run rich?
