Hello guys I'm new here and actually a corolla owner.LOL ROFL I know, I know but I am looking for a intercooler that has its intake runner and outtake runner coming out on the same (passenger side) side. So I have heard that I should check out the DSM world. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to how to find this intercooler hit me up at [email protected] or just post it here. Thanks and sorry to bother you guys. I do also love mitsu's by the way.:D

Road Race Engineering does have an intercooler with specifications that you are looking for.

It is a Griffin Top-to-Bottom Flow, large tube and fin design, 18" x 6" x 3" core, with cast spearco end tanks. It has 2.5" intercooler inlets and outlets.

I had one several years ago, and that is where it was purchased from. I had mine mounted with both inlet/outlet on facing the passenger side. No problems with the IC, and I had it up until I went into the 11's (12.0's-12.2's @ 118-120).
Charge temps were good up to around 22psi, then increased due to the efficiency of the turbo it was working with. Held pressure great, and stood up to alot of abuse.

Go to www.roadraceengineering.com , then to Do-it-yourself parts, and look at intercoolers.

Good luck with your project!

This will most likely get deleted since its not in the classified. Did you look in there?

I cant remember right but the 2g intercooler doesnt have the inlet and outlet on the same side, but im a 1g guy so dont know for sure. Your best bet is ebay.

Dude. Go to EBAY and look up intercoolers. You should get a couple of options on the style you are looking for.

Ok so you guys do recommend the intercoolers on EBAY? I was reading thru your posts and it seemed like you guys didn't like them. If you can help me with what car this setup is for would help me too. I did look on ebay and this site it just ends up that each one i find comes up as a 2nd gen. So please inform me if you can. Thanks in advance

HRC (Hahn Racecraft) has those types. I don't recommend those type I/C as they are not effiecient at all. I think this thread will be closed but at least I tried to help you.

It would be nice if you provided us with some dimensions. You need to take into consideration fitment issues, trimming, custom intercooler pipes, and your radiator. Is your project turbocharging a Corolla? If so, it depends on what turbocharger you plan on going with. If you're going with a smaller turbo, the Griffin is probably unnecessary. Especially when turbochargine a small, naturally-aspirated engine, you may very well experience overheating issues. Just don't forget about the needs of your radiator. Look at the link below:

http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=227441

As you can see, the OEM 2G side-mount intercooler is sufficient for this naturally-aspirated engine after it was turbocharged. It also depends on what boost levels you expect to operate at. Additionally, with a SMIC you also need incoming air to the intercooler. It depends on what model your Corolla is, but it doesn't seem that there would be enough air flowing through the intercooler if the core was placed in an SMIC location. But it all depends.... We would need more detailed information to give you an adequate recommendation.

I agree. I would suggest the Griffin intercooler as well (if your heart is set on the type of intercooler you described). Here is a direct link to the page you seek:

Jay, I can't find where RRE specifically offers a Griffin intercooler for the 2Gs. However, I did find that you can simply purchase the intercooler core, and thus fabricate the intercooler pipes to your liking. Here is the link:

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/intercoolers.htm

As it says in the first link I gave, the intercooler kit is for the 1Gs. However, I would not advise you to buy the intercooler kit. Again, just buy the intercooler core (seen above) and make custom intercooler pipes.

If you wish, you can PM ShapeGSX and ask him about his intercooler piping. Josh has a 2G with the Griffin FMIC, and custom short-route intercooler piping. Maybe he'll send you a few shots of the fitment and placement of the intercooler.

Just for everyone's reference, here is RRE's 2G install and 1G install.

He probably just registered (coming from a Toyota Corolla forum), and cannot post anywhere else but in the Newbie forum.

Yep yep you are probably right.

No I was saying the stock 2g intercooler does not have in and outlets on the same side. His title is 2g intercooler wanted but it will not work for his application if he needs the in/outlets on the same side.

dsmunknown-Thank you you did help me a little and yes i am newley registered and this isn't a post to buy its a post to learn a little before i jump into something i know nothing about. I am building a s/c corolla and i am going with a v mount setup so that i can keep the piping to an from the intercooler short. this is why i need the tanks to be on the same side. so my fitment is custom and i really don't have any issues this is all being designed around the s/c and intercooler.

RACE OPTIONS is the name of the store on ebay that sells the type of intercooler your looking for.

I think you are confusing some terms here. V-mount intercoolers are more commonly known as this (we see these on modified RX7s and the Scubbie family):

Perhaps even MKIV Supra FMICs can be labelled as V-mounts (in a certain sense). Personally, I would not label the FMIC you are looking for with a "V-mount intercooler." You are simply looking for a FMIC with the end tank mouths on the same end. It would be easier if you gave us the year and specific style of the Corolla. Even better would be the engine code.

Here is the link to Race Options for reference. However, I think the design of those end tanks are poor, to say the least.

Here is a photo of what the company is currently offering (in case the link goes down):

ok these are good depictions of a normal v-mount. i am building a similar setup with an ae86 corolla with a 4agze my v-mount will be the same as the above except i need to have the tanks on one side due to the supercharger and intake being on the same side. Lets not forget guys I am currently looking at options and this is only one of them. It is just so i can check out different ideas. But the pipes need to really short so that the supercharger doesn't start to lag. here are some pics to give you a few ideas of what i am going for.
this is the type of car (not my car)

Don't bump your post. Since I'm feeling.. not so pissed today, I'll leave this open for advice. The moment it turns into a Classified it's getting locked.

I suggest you read our rules here. They will be different from most other forums on the net.

Back on topic.

Thank you for the photos and additional info. I hope you realize that with an appropriate supercharger you will experience significantly less lag than that of an equally capable turbocharger.

If you really want extremely short intercooler pipes, then you should look into options for a water-to-air intercooler. I am assuming you are building this project for off-road use.

no i am not this will be a streetable car and i am not interested in debating the turbo/s/c thing, i am going with it for certain reasons. and i appoligize for the bump. this is not a thread that i am trying to buy anything just want ot learn about you setups that all.
