:dsm: I cannot for the life of me figure out how to properly bleed the clutch system on my '90 Eclipse.... push, crack, tighten, out.... I can't figure out why I can't get a good bleed out of this system, there aren't any leaks or anything, and I am using DOT 4 Synthetic Prestone.... anyone that can give me the easy way or at least the right way to do this, please post it! thanks in advance to all who post.

The main problem with bleeding a clutch is that the bleeder screw is basically the bottom of the system and when open, the bleeder screw has a tendency to dribble which allows air to enter the system. Same thing happens with a 2G.

Before you crack open the bleeder screw, install a hose onto the bleeder screw and the other end in a jar of fluid. That way you will not suck air into the system. Plus an added advantage is that you don't need 2 people so you don't go through the open screw-push pedal and hold-close screw-let pedal up-repeat scenario.

Get a glass bottle full of new fluid. Use a rubber hose from the bleeder at the slave and put it into the glass. Then use something to open it have a friend push the clutch down. When he is down you tighten then he lifts. Do this till there is no air. Then have him push on the clutch as you loosen it, this will force any air left in the system.

this is what i do and it has not failed on me yet!

fill with fluid and get your bleeder valve loose. put a 10mm wrech on it and a bleeder tube. go in the car and pump it 3-5 times and take a baseball bat and pin it between the pedel and the seat. go under the car and loosen the bleeder valve and when the pressure comes out slow tighten it back up before it sucks in air.

repeat untill it the pedel feels fine :thumb:
