I bought an In-cabin MBC. Its a ball and spring that has a bleed off knob that goes in the cabin. I'm kind of confused on how to install it... I'm fairly certain I need a pressure source coming from the BOV line to the ball and spring tee fitting, a line going to the WGA and then a line from the top of the ball and spring box going to the bleed off. Is that right? Just to eliminate some confusion, this is what I bought:

i'm pretty sure what you want to do is tee a line off of a vacuum source and run that line all the way to the mbc in your compartment. Then you run the line from the MBC to the WGA. I gotta be honest though, i don't like the idea of a MBC being that far away from the WGA and the vacuum source. It just makes me feel like it can't regulate as rapidly and will cause a bit of a lag in the control of your boost. But that's just me

Yeah, I'm fairly certain every boost controller I've ever seen said to mount as close to the WG as possible. That's why the Hallman MBC uses mechanical cable from the cockpit to the controller, then you can still mount the controller close... looks suspect... where'd you get it? brand? it almost looks like TurboSmart, but I don't think they'd make that...

If you're going to mount it that far, I'd use the hard tubes that comes with mechanical boost guages in which you could find at Discount Auto. That way, it can't stretch with pressure like the rubber vacuum lines could. just use the vacuum lines to connect the hard tube[it'll slide right in] to the MBC/Wastegate

I got it off ebay for $50. Probably was a bad idea. I'll try what you guys said thanks!

If I were you I would mount it under your hood as close to your boost source as possible. In cabin is really not worth the risk of nasty boost spike and poor regulation.

PLEASE, for (insert your deity/icon of choice here)'s sake, don't use that MBC. Almost all the recent problems with MBC's that people have made threads about have been when they've used that particular MBC. Do yourself a gigantic favor and buy a reputable DSM-friendly MBC like a Hallman, TurboXS, JoeP, etc. The Turbosmart/knock-off MBC's like you have just don't seem to want to work on our cars.

Do NOT tap the BOV line for a pressure source for an MBC. The BOV line should be uninterrupted. The proper functioning of the BOV depends on a strong vacuum signal with no boost leaks. A MBC is basically an artificial boost leak. The pressure source for a manual boost controller should come directly from the lower intercooler pipe close to the compressor housing, or the compressor housing itself. Then the MBC signal line should go directly to the wastegate actuator. No teeing BOV lines, intake manifold lines, etc.

IC pipe/compressor housing -> MBC -> Wastegate Actuator.

Ha, I have that MBC, ebay right? Don't even install it because it probably wont work.:notgood: I only used it because it only ran the turbo's stock boost which i needed because my boost was spiking all over the place. Turbosmart is where its at.:thumb:

there are 2 or 3 price point electronic boost controllers out now, just under 200 that might be better. just a thought

Yeah MBCs and In Cabin just don't mix. If you want the convenience of in Cabin go with a EBC. They are much more efficent and worth the extra buck.

That is not true at all. If you want an in-cabin MBC then get the hallman evolution rx

I have this as many other DSMers and can personally vouche for its quality and reliability. You can pick one up for ~$180ish :thumb:

where did you mount the hallman in cabin? I could be wrong but that doesn't look like enough line to go from passenger under hood to driver side cabin. Where did you go through firewall?

The vacuum provided is 3 ft. I'm pretty sure where ever you decide to put it 3 ft. is long to get the actual bc on the other side of the firewall in the engine bay and after that you can extend the line with rubber vacuum tube.

Boost levels aren't something you adjust like a leap to hyperspace. You set the boost and tune to it. Having an "adjuster" inside the cabin is as good an idea as having an underhood setscrew for the throttle cable which you set before every drive.

But it's a great way to sift out the noobs.

Just to the high/low boost setting with the stock selnoid that is just flopping around. There is a tek on it in the tech section.
