well i am rebuilding my cylinder head this winter and just need a few suggestions or comments on the different valve springs out there. I narrowed it down to three that i am interested in getting. HKS, Si, and Brian Crower (BC) springs. Does anyone have any experience with any of them?

so far this is what i am installing during the rebuild.

Si SS valves
Si bronze valve guides
Si valve stem seals
HKS 272/272 cams
ARP bolts and studs
Cometic Head Gasket

I drive my car daily and and do not plan (at least i will try not to) rev past 8500k.

Also is Unorthodox cam gear and pulley set worth getting? i figured i'd replace it since i have everything apart.

thanks

If you aren't planning on hitting 8500rpms, I would probably just look for the best deal among those listed, they are all good.

I wouldn't bother with the cam gears, it takes a lot of dyno tuning and a lot of slight adjusting to see any benefits with them and they usually don't add much over 7-8 hp even perfectly dialed in.

But with the cam gears you can fine tune your cars power band. You can adjust where you want the power to kick in from what ive researched. I would go with the BC valves they can be found pretty cheap on ebay.

BC would be my choice I plan on getting them for my car when I get the time and money and like jayrolla said they can be found cheap on ebay.

I'm running BC springs, they seem to do the job just fine, though I'm just on stock 1G cams.

Wouldn't really bother with the cam gears.. they're mostly for show, and you can spend the money on far better things.

thanks for all your input. I guess i'll go with the BC spings with titainium retainers and hold off on the pulleys.

what about HKS Cams? or is BC just as good. I have not heard of anything bad about any of them besides the price of the HKS and the possibility of the BC wearing down faster. A friend swears that the BC are just as good as HKS.

thanks again

Well from what everyone is saying the BC's are not regrinds and work great. Idle a little smoother than hkx. DKS cams are regrinds but ive not heard anything bad about them either. My buddy will be running them soon.

I put crower springs and retainers in my head that got rebuilt, and BC cams are going in as well. Unfortunately, the car is not quite running as of yet.

so HKS are regrinds? i did not know that. I did my search and read up on the HKS vs BC cams and sounds like they are both pretty good. Anyone else have any experience with these cams? thanks for all your input.

anyone running BC stage 2 cams with BC valve springs? how much of a difference will i notice?
