I bought a used autometer egt and got scammed and got an exhaust temp. It goes from 600 to 1600 f is there any way i can use this as an egt. There is no probe and as far as i can tell no way to connect one, just want to be sure i cant use it before i get rid of it. There are a positive and negative wire, but no plug or anythign on the end.

EGT is an exhaust temperature gauge. It sounds like you got the gauge but don't have a probe. Probes are sold separately though

No i did want an egt, but i had never said one that said exhaust temp in big letters. Dumb mistake by me. Either way i looked at thermocoupler type k's or something and they all have a plug at the end or at least the ones i saw. This only has a positive and negative wire.

Did you read the link (the second one) that I posted above?

NOTE: Thermocouple wire codes: This is the industry standard.

RED - NEGATIVE (-)
YELLOW - POSITIVE (+)

Slide back 3/4" (~19mm) of the stainless steel outer sheath.
Strip 1/2" (~12mm) of brown outer insulation, to expose the red and yellow sending wires.
Strip 1/4" (~6mm) of red, and yellow insulation, exposing the bare thermocouple wire.
Remove the cover screw, and cover on the supplied connector jack (jack to wire hold-down).
Insert the thermocouple wire simultaneously through the correct holes in the end of the jack.
Red sending wire into the hole marked Negative (-).
Yellow inserted into the hole marked Positive (+) , making sure exposed thermocouple wire is deep enough into the jack, and the wire is lined up with its contact patch inside the jack.
Replace jack cover, tighten connector screw, and insure the sending wires are secured in the jack.
Continue to follow the polarity of the jack connector, connect jacks to the thermocouple sending unit in the engine bay, then to your EGT gauge.
