Yep, a power window issue...can anyone explain?

So, I've spent tons of money on my car and decided why not buy power windows to finish it up. Well, I bought the power window door panels, wiring harness, window motors, etc etc, pretty much everything that is needed for the set up from a gst. I call mitsubishi because I thought for sure they would be educated enough to install this for me (but I forget that Louisiana is 100 years behind)...haha...and they tell me they can't do it, pretty much because they have no clue about it. So I call some car audio shops because I know they install power windows and I cant seem to find anyone to get this done. I can easily go to the junk yard and get some power window doors, but does anyone know where I can have the wiring installed, or does anyone have a tutorial or anything on this issue? I read the threads about this issue on this site and they were all dead end with unanswered questions. If anyone has any input or knowledge about this then please let me know! :thumb:

The Haynes manual won't do much if you're like me and have trouble understanding schematics or need color codes for the wiring.

Do you have a basic understanding of electrical equipment? -I think you can do this yourself if you want to take the time to.

Here's the way I'd tackle the problem. I'd either get a whole bunch of scrap wire or I'd cut off and reuse the wire you have, taking the time to figure out exactly what each color wire connects to might help save some wire cutting/splicing, but definitely won't save time overall. I'd start at the window motors and just start hardwiring everything to the switches. Get a couple of relays from a parts store if you don't have them and wire them into a switched power source (look in the fuse box for a wire to splice) and use the other 2 poles of the relay to deliver the positive voltage to the window switches, so that you can only run the windows up/down when the ignition is on.

The switches are double pole, meaning that the same voltage is available when the switch is pushed or when it is pulled. Only the polarity at the motor is what controls which direction the window moves in. So wire one side of each switch to one pole of the motor. The motor should be grounded by the way it is mounted.

The driver's side will be more complicated since it has controls for both windows, but just take your time and you'll be fine. The passenger window lock on the drivers control panel is the only really different thing, you have to connect the wire supplying power to the passenger window switch across this lock switch first, or you won't be able to override your passenger from opening/closing the window.

Hope this helps, if you need anything else, maybe post a pic or two and I'll try to help more.
