running lean with downpipe and uicp?

Will I be running lean if I install a downpipe and upper intercooler pipes without upgrading my fuel pump? Thanks.

No, but you will have boost leaks so you might as well start building a leak tester.

i cant see why hell have boost leaks if he installs the parts properly, but anyways, hes correct, you shouldnt run lean with these parts,

I have yet to see a 8-10 year old stock DSM that doesn't any have boost leaks.

Yes I'm playing the odds, and the odds are pretty good.

Further more, I don't consider any intallation involving the intake tract complete until a boost leak test is performed.

make sure you put the o2 sensor in right and hook up the ground right of else you will run rich

i think he may be curious as to whether or not an UICP or a downpipe can actaully change the a/f ratio. In our cars, it will not, the maf will adjust to the increased airflow from the UICP and you will not run lean. Although i do not fully understand how, there are some cars that actaully do change their a/f ratio if you add a dp or an intake, apparently my audi A3 is one of these victims.

My boost gauge was broken today by a friend ... him and his swinging backpack. Well after he hit it pretty hard, it didn't work. Do you think i should make sure that its working before installing the uicp? I mean can something go wrong by not having a boost gauge while installing this? Thanks.

My friend added an exhaust and intake to his 05 WRX. He then bought the Turbo XS EMS for it and went to the dyno. They where all flipped out because he was running with the exhaust and intake without a tune saying that his motor was knocking like crazy.

He explained how the the added air on this type of car greatly changes the a/f ratio and he was running real rich. With just the two mods and upping the boost he layed down 220whp. Not to bad.
