i can't post in the bolt on forum so I'll throw this in here, does any one have experience with this 3in exhaust kit (the weld up kit) or a kit similar to this? I will have no problem doing all the welds myself but i was wondering if this kit will have all the bends i will need. This is my first AWD so I'm not sure of what all I will need bend wise. I did search for some pictures of other peoples exhaust but couldn't really find any decent ones. Thanks for any help you guys can give me. :laser: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category_10001_11057_28333_-1_11783
(Thats the link for the exhaust kit, i was having trouble for some reason inserting it in the middle of my post)

I had mine piped a couple of months ago with 2 1/2 and it only cost me 125 for turbo back, straight pipe and muffler, at an exhaust shop. they would have done 3" for 25 more, but i wanted to keep a quiet sound a idle, but loud when i get on the gasm which the 2 1/2 does great.
i would call around to some exhaust shops and have them give you a quote, it shouldn't be but maybe 200, if that.

Hey do you guys think that kit would have enough pipe to do a full turbo back system? I would need a flex joint most likely for the down pipe but it seems to me like it has plenty of pipe for it all.

On the exhaust i did on my 1.8 i just cut the old hangers off of the stock exhaust and welded them on in the equivalent position on the new exhaust. I also work at a body shop, and my friends dad down the road has a muffler shop. He does a pretty good job on his systems but he doesn't have a mandrel bender so I'm not very inclined to go through him.

Building a custom exhaust system is not as easy as it may sound due to some minor problems you would not expect. I bought a 3" Megan Racing downpipe and did the rest of the piping myself but If I had to do it again and with all the money I spent on it I would buy a bolt on system. AWD cars have much simpler exhausts though so if I were you I would do it myself or take it to a shop and have them do it with a one piece pipe to eliminate any joints. One of the reasons I wish I had an AWD is the simplicity of the exhaust system and the lack of turns and bends. FWD exhaust sucks. That's why I had the pipes come out to the sides before the rear tires to eliminate all the weird bends in orrder to get it to go over the rear axle and beam.
Give it a try but don't buy the kit from Jegs. That is way too much. A muffler shop should be able to bend the pipe, provide the pipe, weld you a muffler, and hang it properly along with aligning it for less than $250. If they want more than that you should check a different shop.
