After searching the forums for answer to my questions I have noticed that alot of ppl "ghetto" rig up various things. I have seen everything from parts to tools. I AM GUILTY ALSO(just check out the bootleg throttle cable i had). Post up what you have rigged. PICS or NO PICS doesn't matter just share the knowledge. At some point everyone is on a budget and with a DSM it gets hard :D

well i guess you can say my rear bumper i ghetto rigged on. I have maybe 6-8 bolts holding it on when there is about 16. I converted to an elipse and look at my profile to see it.

4 bolts holding the front bumper on.
Zipties holding the fusebox to the fuse box holder.
Zipties holding the FMIC to the hood release (true story)
Zipties holding the MAFT to the firewall.
Zipties holding the radiator on.
paperclip holding the wastegate arm to the flapper.

Lots of JB weld, plastic glue

It's to cold to fix my car, zipties have been a godsend..

Zip ties are actually a good tool for holding stuff on when no bolt holes or brackets are available. granted its not the best solution but it is a solution, Just like bond-o

You guys are so funny saying dont ghetto rig. Everyone knows that and people do it and most have. I have a 2g maf with the stock intake pipe off a 2g rigged into my car.

Everything works great except the bov recirculation tube does not line up to the bov at all. I had to rig a recirculation tube that has two pretty harsh bends but it works great. I'll post pics tomorrow.

I can honestly say i dont ghetto rig anything, if i dont have enough money to do something right the first time i wait until i do, and if that means the car sits then so be it.

I "ghetto" rigged my throttle cable with electrical tap, Zip ties (which are amazing LOL), a binder clip, and pieces of rubber and plastic tubing. Seems to be working allright, throttle response is instant but the cable is still a little sticky. I can deal, since im unemployed I can't throw away 20 bucks on something I dont need:D

I also contact cemented my headliner as well as the plastic molding. O and I don't have a passenger side door handler, don't know if that counts haha

Yes it worked! you'll see the zip ties holding the throttle cable down and the plastic tubing going into the firewall haha

the only thing I have 'ghetto rigged" is my front bumper. Its held on by 7 bolts but that is because I take my passenger headlight out when I race and I need easy access to it. Other then that everything is done to the best of my ability with all attempts to look like it was there originally.

Lets see, had to raise air cleaner box with washers to make sure the new HKS BOV would clear the ABS pump (DAMN YOU ABS!!!). Oh if only everyone could see the wonderful welding on the exhaust. We didn't feel like buying a reducer but thank god erich is great at welding stainless. Connector going to T-Stat housing broke off from the wiring and there wasn't enough wire in the connector to repair it so i found some jeep connectors laying around the shop and managed to make one work with some side cutters and a zip tie. Engine silicone on a cracked valve cover (definately not pretty).

This one should make everyone laugh...

I currently have 3, count them, 3 left axles in my car. One in the front and two in the rear.

I snapped my right rear axle and called everyone I knew around Cincinnati and couldn't find any right rear's. My buddy who also has a TSI AWD said he had an axle laying around so I went over and checked it out. I noticed the "1991 LR" on it and figured, meh, its worth a shot. It fit! and it works great.

There was a lot more before the major engine rebuild so I guess its been de-ghettofied.

My FMIC brackets are made partially of old fence post cut and welded to size. :)

MAFT rests loosely in the ABS octopod.

EGR block off plate was made with nothing but an aluminum can and bench grinder.

on my old GS-T i had the radiator being held up by a bunch of zip ties and my lower intercooler pipe had ripped and since i had a 14b on there i couldnt find any used piping on ebay and didnt have the money for the hard intercooler piping so i used a piece of aluminum tubing, connected the two ripped piece of intercooler piping and used A LOT of silicone and JB weld.....help up really well actually

My front bumper is held on with 3 screws.. the rest is zip ties.
My fog lights are wired using electrical tape
My Head lights are re wired using electrical tape
My Halo lights are wired using electrical tape..

Also these are dollar store Zip ties and electrical tape :p

I kinda rigged HIDs on my 05 GSXR1000... I used double-sided tape. It all looked good but I knew it was rigged. The ballast was hidden but since the ignitor is so close to the bulb I had to mount it on the fairing stay. When I had my r6 the right peg snapped during a standup wheelie. It broke in del on my way back from OCMD.. I just took a bolt from a cyl head and "rigged" it up. It worked until I got a new peg assembly

boo-yok-a-sha
