well..my battery's dead, alternator's dead, starters blown, two thrown rods...so im getting a new engine...any ideas, suggestions, etc. like..whenever it is that i do my engine swap...ive got the 1.8 right now..i was looking to convert to a 2.0...also..mayb a new transmission, clutch, and flywheel kit..any suggestions or advice is appreciated...

Do you ever have any plans of upgrading to a turbo platform? With all the work it seems you need with your car new motor, tranny ect. It might be cheaper to find a used 1g turbo. Either way IMO I would go with the 2.0 turbo, or n/t. Maybe someone else will chime in but I dont know if the wiring harness is the same from the 1.8 to the 2.0.

You would definatly need the 2.0 harness, and at that point you would be better off looking for a turbo harness as you will have the whole dash out to do so anyway. As stated above, for what you are going to be paying, it may be better to look for a turbo, but this is coming from someone in the process of a turbo conversion on our n/t.

I think when we do the math:

Engine
Trans
Clutch
Flywheel
Wiring harness
Time
Starter
Fuel system updated for the 2.0

You'd be better off buying a used car. Just accept that the 1.8L is fuxxed and put a couple thousand into a 1g AWD turbo.

If your gonna spend the money on a engine and tranny you might as well get a turbo 1g. Your gonna thank yourself in the long run.

hey..thanx for all the help...yeah..if anything..ill either convert to the 2.0 turbo..new wiring harness and ECU...or just see what kinda cash i can get for mine now..and buy a new one...thanx again...
