Ok. I got some pics of my tranny....

Just wondering though. From what you see, what should I be concerned about?

Im thinking og making a new driveplate out of SS. That way it would never break. There would be no issue with this would there?

Also, the actuall tranny. Does it look right? Something seems out of place to me, but I am not a transmission guy at all. Dont know much about em.

Do autos have flywheels?(like getting a light weight one or whatever) Or is it just manuals?

And what you see is what I seen. Nothing out of place or removed.
Thanks.

Im not too familiar with auto trans', but id replace your rear main seal and rear main seal cover as well, looks like the seals leaking pretty good, and it looks like that one bolt on the.....puck?? Whatever that thing on the motor is, it looks like the flywheel broke loose from that puck, and that puck started spinning and one of those bolts was grinding against the flywheel, id replace those bolts as well, and the flex plate.

Ya. Im replacing the bolts...Need to re-tap a few of them. ALong with teh ones in the flywheel.

When I took the trans off it all slide right out, didnt even see those bolts....

Got a new seal housing thing, just need to get a new seal.

Would I be able to buy a new flywheel from like Slowboy or whoever and have it fit right in?

Yes, you should be able to buy a flexplate for an auto DSM trans somewhere, and it should bolt right up.

Auto's don't have flywheels. All you have is a torque converter and a flex plate. I know someone out there can get you a higher stall converter but thats about it. Also, with your flex plate problem I would replace that and put everything back together before spending too much money.

Well. I was rebuilding the engine, then ran into that.

The tranny is in good shape, just whoever did the last rework on it failed to put all the bolts in. And the few they did, were loose.

Im waiting for some parts to arrive, then Im re-assembling the engine. But I think I might take the tranny into a shop and have em look at it just to be safe.

Thanks.
