Sorry for the safc, maft vs dsmlink thread but ive read and still in limbo. I never really gave dsmlink a thought since i didnt want to buy a labtop but my comp is craping out on me and im buying myself a labtop for christmas. so now im looking into dsmlink.
My question is would you sell safc2, maft, and pocket logger and then shell out the extra cash for dsmlink. Would i see alot more benifit? I already will have labtop and i have an eprom ecu so is it worth the extra cash for the better tunning capabilities. I am new to tunning and really think dsmlink will make things easier since its all one unit. Is that true?

What should have been realized in any other thread was that with DSMLink you actually control fuel and timing INDEPENDENTLY of each other. Unlike the SAFC where fuel settings effect timing.

DSMLink WILL be easier to tune from, plus you can log anything that is "seen" by the ECU.

Also, you can use a PALM to tune and log with if you don't want your laptop in the car.

Dsmlink is a better tuning tool because it allows you to run the correct amount of timing, independantly of the injector adjustments. AFC and MAFT both do the same thing by offsetting the airflow signal so that a set of larger injectors can be used. The ECU sets timing based on the airflow signal and since the signal is now offset, the timing is more aggressive. Plus, Dsmlink is probably a thousand times easier to use and even datalogging will be improved.

edit: #$%^& I type slow.

i know i read somewhere before that they are thinking about doing dsmlink v3 that will handle the gm maf without a maft. WHere are they at on this? Will this be by spring, that i should wait to buy till then or is that on the backburner?

THis is something I am interested in as well. The extra simplicity of not having a maft as well not to mention the money saved may sway me over in the future.

The release date of DSMLink V3 is unknown, and dont expect it by spring.
Yes they are working on it.
Yes, it will support GM MAF better then it already does.
You can currently use a GM MAF and DSMLink togeather.

I have never personally used a SAFC so i cant comment on which one is better, i went right to DSMLink. Best decision i ever made with my car im sure.
