my parents are buying me what ever exhaust i want for x-mas. i really like the N1 style, and i want to get the APEXi N1 turbo back.. (i can get for $400 brand new)but still the price is not an issue cause im not paying for it

this is were i have a problem, some people say they love it and some say its no good and loud and annoying... i wanted so other opinions before i tell them which one i want
and if anyone has a sound clip or pics of one with a full turbo back.

Ive heard its a nice system, but if it were me, and money were no issue, Id buy an HKS Hi-power cat back, at www.slowboyracing.com they have it for a 2G FWD for $544 and some change, not including shipping.

I had Hks on my mr2 best exhaust i ever had. Apexi N1 with cat shouldn't be loud, but still a nice deep sound remember its 3 inch.

well whatever i get i want a turbo back b/c i dont think im ever going to get the bolts off the stock exhaust even with PB.. but now im looking at either an APEXi N1 turbo back for $400, or a Megan Racing turbo back for $500 .. .. what do you think?

Megan racing, that one is all stainless steel, the N1 is aluminized piping except for the muffler.

I have an Apexi N1 exhaust and downpipe on my GSX and absolutely love it. Not TOO loud but it's not quite either. I've heard the HKS is 2.5 at the cat flange then opens up to three inches. My cousin has a Megan exhaust and downpipe on his Evo8 which is doing him good. People say my Apexi exhaust sounds meaner than his Megan. The reason I chose Apexi is because I got it for a deal about $350-400, I cant remember. Plus, I've heard lots of good stuff about their stuff so that helped, too. If you like good looks I would go for an HKS hi-power carbon fiber titanium, which might/probably will have a 2.5" opening from cat.

I have an Apexi N1 catback and a RRE downpipe. I'll be in Orlando in 2 weeks starting on the 22nd, if you want to meet up. The reason I went with RRE is because the Apexi GSX/AWD downpipe is not a true 2.5", it goes down to 2.2".

Also, the Apexi N1 catback on a GST is not 3" like the GSX one, the GST catback goes down to 60mm - which is 2.36".

THERMAL RESEARCH AND DEVOLOPMENT!!!!!!!!

IMO it is a awsome bolt on exhaust. To answer your previous question about it tappering down, look at the pic of it...

That is the 95-99 GST system. They have been around a long time and do real research before they make products. The sound is great, not to loud, but it opens up when you are WOT. They also carry a LIFETIME WARRANTY! They are all stainless as you can see from the pic.
Here is a link to there page with the part numbers listed for our cars:

They are upper 500's, one of the more expensive exhaust systems but one of the best!

Sorry, I didn't realize you were FWD. FWD's do use smaller diameter piping. I have a picture but it's not a really good one of my muffler. If I'm not mistake the GST's have huge bends in the exhaust if your worried about that.

The thermal R&D dosent use smaller tubing for a GST:thumb: The beds in the pic I linked to above dont look crazy either. So would you rather have a better preforming part or a better looking tip? If you dont get the Thermal, and I am pretty sure you wont make sure you get a 3" system, and if I were spending 500 I would get somthing with a Bigger name then Megan...

its not so much that im woried about it, its just sometime i can be one of those people that are picky about what they get.. and i really like the N1 style.. so thats what im looking to get.. any suggestions to what a good N1 style would be??

Sounds like you want to get the N1 and just want people to say its good and make you feel good about getting it.

Seriously the Thermal is the way to go. If I had the money I would order one today. Unfortunately I just had to get a new water pump put in.

I would go the HKS route, but gbell is right, it sounds like you just want everyone to say Apex'i, so instead of asking everyone what they think you should get ask yourself what you think you should get, since it does seem that you've figured it out arleady.

if some of you could post some pics of any 3" N1 style exhaust they have so i can get an idea on what i want i would greatly appreciate it.

Just know that if you want 3" you'll have to go with either Thermal or Megan for a GST. Are you looking for pics of the pipe or pics of the N1 installed?

i just had a mufflershop make me a catback, exhaust, 3" mandrel bent, and it cost me like 130. and they had me come in and show them how i wanted to make it go, so i angled the exhaust the way i wanted and everything. you just have to get the muffler you want.

Get an RRE downpipe and 3" Espelir GT500 system. it's superior to the N1 and is a true 3" exhaust system (even on a FWD) :rocks:
Just to clarify - RRE doesn't make 3" downpipes, their downpipes are 2.5" before the flex and 3" after the flex.
