Is there a recommended balancer replacement/upgrade for our cars, and also where is the cheapest place to get one..all the stores in my area want 250-350 for one.

If you're talking about the harmonic balancer (crank pulley) you can buy an OEM directly from a Mitsu dealer for around $170 or so depending on who you call. The OEM piece works fine as long as you inspect it at every t-belt change and replace it as needed.

My replacement one was almost $120 from Mitsubishi. I was told that you can ruin them by over tightening belts so be careful there. Make sure it is bad first. You will be able to tell because the rubber insulator will be all cracked and split. Kinda like a bad bushing. Stay stock. The only time I have ever used an aftermarket one was when I was rebuilding my motor and I balanced it with the crank to ensure it wouldn't cause any problems.

I recommend against Unorthodox. I have to shave A LOT off of the underdrive crank pulley to get it to balance with the crank when I did it about a year ago.
