Have you guys ever heard of this stuff?

It's made by evergreen america, here's the link http://209.200.118.63/ProductsMotorSilk.cfm

I was just wondering if this is safe for our cars, it seems like it would be just wanted to know for sure.

I put it in my laser last week and it makes the car a lot quieter (reduced engine friction). Has anyone else put this in their dsm?

sorry for posting so much:coy:

It's more shit.
The only miracle engine lubricant is called "Motor Oil", and it'll have an API roundrel on it that says "API SM".
All the rest of it is just shit. Although it's good that it makes you think the engine's running smoother, because all we are is what we think.

And no, you don't post too much. I'd know.

I appreciate your response Defiant.

I would agree with you just because you seem to know your stuff, but I believe, from firsthand experience, that this stuff increases gas mileage as well as make the car quieter.

I did a little experimentation and tested it on my dad's lexus as well as my audi over a 3 week period.

(This was under average driving conditions, not speeding around etc..)
Gas mileage before the motorsilk was 19 and 20 mpg respectively
Gas mileage after 1 week was 19 and 21
Gas mileage after 2 weeks was 21 and 22
Gas mileage after 3 weeks was 23 and 22

Granted there is slight room for error because of all the variables in gas mileage determination, you can see that gas mileage increased 2-4 mpg over a 3 week period(Gas mileage basically stayed the same after 3 weeks)

I'm not saying Motorsilk is amazing or necessarily does everything it may say it does, but this serves as substantial evidence(at least in my case)that it is indeed effective in increasing gas mileage.

Now it's in my laser that still gets crappy gas mileagefor some reason(8:2 compression?)

If anyone else has had experience with this product or a similar one feel free to chime in .

They all do the same thing, they flush the fuel system and clean the injectors when they pass through.

haha should have read more carefully. That flushes the motor out, cleans passages, cleans bearings and cylinder walls and causes less friction. You are basically getting back what gas milage you should have had. I use seafoam every once and a while in my oil and fuel tank and I get near 30mpg on the highway. Just has detergents to clean the surfaces. You can achieve the same by pouring a little ATF in your oil as well.

Bastards! haha shit man that stuff was 40 bucks. It says it bonds and shit! I dont know, these vendors are too slick. Anywho, it still helped gas mileage and it sounds quieter I just overpayed.

there wasn't any smoke though when i ran the car with it, as I have heard happens with seafoam

Only when you put it directly into the combustion chamber.

damn man your are just too good haha. I saw your post on the rotor sizes, did you know those numbers off hand?

No. I just take the 3 seconds to search and then post what I find since other people are too lazy too. Most questions I have answered so many times I know it off the top of my head. I have a favorites folder dedicated to DSM pages from everything to Boost leak testers to how to do a timing belt. I just post up the link when I need it. And I did know they were different. Just not why.

LOL that's funny, seems like your very helpful and knowledgeable with dsm's. There should be more members like that :thumb:
