ok, ive been threw here and such, posted questions about what engine build etc, and im just flat out, stumped.

Easy question:

Should i fix my car (check my pictures) all but 2 windows where busted out, the engine needs replaced, and a new turbo droped in and should be good as new

OR

Just tow it some where, take my rims, ecu, my gauges/electronics out, ecu, and my exhaust and part/sell whats left..

Help me LOL, im going nuts...

I voted to replace. I think you could get a fair amount of money parting it out. Just sell stuff on the classifieds. Then, you can sell the car as a shell and get some more. Then use the money to get a pretty nice 1g.

Or, if you have some sort of like sentimental connection to it, keep it by all means. It all comes down to how much money and time you have. If that was my daily driver, I'd sell it. It would take too long to fix. If it's a project car, keep it. They're meant to get fixed up.

well i do, its the first and last car my father has ever gotten me, even tho it wasnt a sweet 16 car, more like a 25th birthday present LOL. but yeah, its my daily/track car, never got to see what it could do. I've been looking for another awd to replace it with but havent found any good ones, or ones that havent been aboused/modded to heck. Mine was partly stock when i got it and would like to find another one.

I've also been looking at GST's but coming from an awd to a fwd, just dont know about that.

being from the south...
One of my biggest pet peeves is rust. I sold my first GST because it was used and from Boston. Everytime I did anything to it I spent almost as much time cleaning up rust and repainting as I did on what I set out to do.

So how rusty is the car? If it is about to rust through anywhere on the car, I would vote for either dumping it, or stripping it down for a track car.

X2

If there isnt any rust, keep it. If its rusty, part it out.

Has it ever been hit? The body looks to be clean, and if the frame is strait, I say fix it. At the same time though, be realistic. Do you have the money to fix it? Do you think its worth the moeny to fix it? It all comes down to whatever you want to do with it, but if it was mine (and rust free with a clean frame) I would fix it.

only rust on the car, is up by the shock towers under the hood, i guess its common with the early 2g's other then that its fine, and strate.

as for the funds, yeah thats been taken care of by the court system, is just ether rebuild or replace, but all im finding is gst's. Ive asked people, and its a 50/50. Damage done is going to cost about 3k to fix, plus the motor etc. it can be done with what im getting, but the unknown's is in the back of my mind.

Plus i dont have any where personal to work on it, like a garage, nor a friends place, so its got to be done via a body shop or mech shop etc. unless i do it out side, and the weather, well being up in Pa just doest cut it at the moment.

I say rebuild, because if not you have to start all over with a new car and new problems. This car was a gift and you probably loved/love it, I know if possible i would have rebuilt my wrecked mr2 turbo. I love that thing and i dont think even if i got another 1 i'd be attached to it like the old one. On the other hand a car is a car, but i duno they form a bond with me LOL.

i Would Just Keep It And Rebuild Cause Like You Said Its Hard To Find An Unmolested Awd Why Get Another Car That You Dont Know Where Its Been When You Have One Where You Do Know Its History And Have A Connection With

ya its hard finding a unmolested gsx....hell you can hardly find beat up ones. you can find a gst in great shape, stock etc. im just saying grab the tranny, and all of the awd components and swap them into the clean gst that you buy.

damn dude your whip got f-ed up. I actually feel really bad. i, loving my n/t, would try to replace it. If you like it enough keep it but if your going to part it out let me know. I'm converting mine to an eclipse and got the rear almost done and want to get the skirts and front. but good luck with your decision and hope all goes well in court.

LOL dang man. I'll sell you my gsx for 7.5k if you want. my mods are in my profile I'm halfway between a paint job though so its basically in primer. All i want is a toyota camry get in and drive the bit to anywhere I want man i wish i could get 35 mpg agian.

id say if you got the cash to replace everything then do it if you realy like the car but if that was my daily driver i would sell it and buy a dif dsm

reading all your guys thoughts and such, im still ugggg, it was my daily, could still be but dang it any how LOL, keep your ideas/thoughts commin there helping. :thumb:

you know what i would rebuild. it would be fun and when you get done you the stuff should be right so amen to that brother

REBUILD Your father bought it for you . If you did not like the car , it would be an easy decision . How much to repair it , estimated ? Is that less than you would have to spend on another car you would like just as much ? That was my question to myself . Made a little easier since I had a backup vehicle . Personally , I would not have found a vehicle I liked as much as it cost to rebuild . I see alot of people say to get a gst and convert to awd . What the hell for , fix what you have . Now get to work :thumb: .

well to fix it, body shop wise (im not trusting my self on glass install) and with me finding a parts car ( i have a 96 gs) brings the body shops total (if i figured it right) $3200 esh. Now it needs a motor, i can do 1 of 2 things, 7bolt long block (dont ask about 6bolt, im auto so forget that) $3450 or 7bolt short block $2600.. Then i need a turbo setup if i go the evo3 route, turbo w/install kit from extreme psi, dejon intake kit, fmic kit, new ac fan for there fmic kit, and new water lines comes to $1710, plus the added fuel mods , injectors, fuel pump and ill be running dsmlink, (sold my logger because well you all know why) thats $959 there, with out a laptop.. so if i go with the engine longblock comes to $9319 or shortblock $8450... Now i need gauges, battery o2 sensor, wb 02 gauge, EGT gauge,Trans temp gauge and a few install stuff like gaskets, so there is another 800esh.

looking at $9269 ~ $10,119 to fix it..

It can be done with what im getting, so its not like i cant do it, just most of the peeps around town here say get a new one start over, and some say keep it........ UGGGG.

I was refering to get your car back to where it was . Running condition . Not to an upgraded wishlist of parts . What is wrong with turbo , motor ? If your looking for a perfect car , start over . For me to get rid of it , it would have to be Awd / turbo / 5 spd . 2 out of 3 ain't bad .

motor spun out the oil pump, the turbo i sold to upgrade. and there is't a "perfect" dsm.

If you're short on time or need a car soon, then by all means sell all that you can from the car, sell the shell, then get a new one! :)

yeah i found a few nice gsx's but again, i find them and im still waiting on the funds from the court.. Patients , i've been waiting 7months now LOL......
