Hey! My question is that I've been seeing a lot of dsm's with only one stock fan on a stock radiator. Being that a lot of people remove the fan in front of the exhaust mani/turbo, is that actually safe? See, I'm thinking about getting a half sized koyo or fluidyne rad with a slimline fan for my setup, and was just wondering if that'll be enough or not enough. Will my engine run hot or will it actually be a good upgrade to go that way, and not to mention that this car will be made into a dd car. So any info about cooling my engine this way would be a good help b/c i don't want to just spend my money on something that's not really going to help me at all. Thanks.

normally one fans for the a/c. If you dont have a/c you can take it out, benefits would be loosing some weight ( whatever the fan weighed ) and more clearance in that area obviously. But ( despite I have no a/c) I kept mines because I have both my fans set to where they both come on and stay on as soon as the ignition is on. ( that was done by me by the way didnt come that way ) Therefore it will provide a little extra cooling.
Personally im going to upgrade to some fal or slimline fans for extra clearance in the future but I have a stock exhaust manifold/ internal w.g. so dont need the extra room yet.

So I'm not gonna be losing anything as far as performance and cooling if i go with a half rad and a slimeline?? The only reason i'm asking is b/c it's half the amount of coolant going through the engine(and correct me if i'm wrong) by using a a half rad!! And no i don't use my a/c, it's obsolete in my car!

OK. Done. But being that my car isn't on half of the options I can't really get into deatail about it. The most I can tell you is that I've swapped the motor and put in the 4g63t, 3" exhaust, stage 3 act clutch kit, mukini fuel rail w/ 550 rc injectors, and that's pretty much it, for now!

I would recommend not spending money on decreasing cooling capacity.

If you want to use the OEM radiator, or get a Fluidyne racing rad, full size, those would probably work fine. But for a daily driver that may be sitting in traffic/not getting a lot of air through the rad, It wouldn't seem smart to decrease the capacity of your cooling system.

You can get a AFCO Scirocco radiator from Summit racing for $230 that will fit where the A/C condensor normally is. It has more cooling capacity than a stock radiator, but it's shorter so it tucks under the stock radiator shroud. You gain about 2.5" between the engine and the radiator when you do this, it gives you about as much room as a T/E/L.
