Has anyone ever used an EVO 9 Fuel pump, and at how much boost/power?

I have the Evo IX pump on my GSX, rewired. I've run 25ish psi on it, flowing over 41 lb/min...this is with meth injection though. 650s and no AFPR. I've heard the Evo IX pump flows more than the Evo 8 pump, somewhere around 205 lph while the Evo 8 pump is around 185 or so, but I'm not sure on that. It's great and doesn't make any noise. FYI, the Evo IX pump is shiny gold colored like the stock 2g pump, and the Evo 8 pump is dark olive green colored.

Hey there, ya... I bought mine from a local person with the 06 evo MR... he upgraded to a 255 walbro.. he had the stock evo 9 pump in the walbro package, and it said "walbro 2G/EVO upgrade" i was like wow... guess its interchangable... here's a picture.. he gave me the whole thing! does this look right?

I think, the Evo8 has the same fuel pump as the Evo9. I don't know it for us-spec Evos, but for german-spec Evos they are the same (maybe a different part number).

Hi Frank,

The fuel pump has been working great! If you can get it for a good deal, I would go for it. It is very quiet and you cannot even hear it running. It installed in my 2G like stock, and I didn't have to use an install kit or anything, it clips right on. I am not too sure about how the 1G is. If the 1G and 2G pumps are alike, then it should install without extra parts. Just make sure you keep the oring and other parts from your stock pump.

Stock EVO9 pump is fine because it only flows around 200lph. Mine runs fine and have no problems with overrun and I'm using 650cc injectors.! Take care, Its an awesome pump! will be boosting around 20 psi soon, and I'm sure it will hold up. EVO 9's have seen over 450whp on stock fuel pumps boosting well over 20psi.

Both gave good info.

I wonder if it can be calculated or estimated what the "maximum threshold" of the OEM FPR is before it become insufficient. It would be interesting to find out.

I just got one and i was told i need a harness since its set for a evo and i am putting it in a 1g. Can anyone tell me whats up? What i need? and how to do it?

The evo pumps use spade style power connectors. You can buy them at any radioshack for $1. They are thinner than the 1g pump, but the weight is the same so they fit allright. I chose to put a rubber boot around mine and use a worm clamp to be sure it didn't move. Ypu'll also have to do a little trimming or modification to the rubber piece at the bottom of the bracket so that everything fits nicely. It's not a total drop in, but fits fione with an hour or so of tinkering.

I currently have a rewired stock fuel pump but I might have a lead on an EVO IX pump for cheap. Just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with this setup? Is the stock FPR able to handle a rewired EVO IX fuel pump? I don't feel like shelling out extra cash for an AFPR.

I've seen flow rates for the EVO VIII fuel pump on RRE's website and it looks like I would be fine. But that is assuming that the EVO VIII and EVO IX fuel pumps are the same and I'm not so sure they are.

Andrew, the Evo IX pump flows a little bit more than the VIII pump, but not much. Read through this thread, with particular attention to post #10. Currently, I am running with a rewired Evo VIII pump. I love the fact that this pump flows a significant amount more than my OEM pump, and it was at such a cheap price (not to mention that it's a direct bolt-on modification :thumb:).

I'm also sending over an Evo IX pump somewhere to have it tested to see just how well it matches up agaist the VIII pump and the Walbro 190 pump (it will be tested through simulation first not rewired (simulating 12.5 volts) and then rewired (simulating 14 volts)).

Thanks for the link, Unknown. I guess the right/safe thing to do is buy an AFPR but truth be told I'm cheap and want to try to get away with less. :coy:

Are you running the rewired EVO VIII fuel pump with the stock FPR?

You can (and I did for a while). If you want to skip the AFPR purchase for now, then go ahead. But ultimately I would obviously advise towards a purchase of a trustworthy AFPR.

Post that info when you get it back! Many people will be interested :thumb:
