Deep River/Barrie,
Quick question.
Im in the middle of a 95 awd tsi deal. Its got 180km on it.
I want to get a car i depend on. And i believe if you take good care of your car, it will take care of you.

Will buying a datalogger benefit me and is it WORTH it for Maintaning issues???:)

I understand i wont have a safc or dsm translator or deal with any tuning because i want to keep it stock and reliable UNTIL i can afford more money for bov, fuel, and EvoIII. I jus REALLY want to keep er truckin until the crankwalk occurs. Be ontop of things and jus learn how my engine works and what is failing or showing low values:)

What do you guys think? (Aside from your regular oil changes?) for always Being ontop of things and Maintinging a 7bolt awd?

I don't see why it wouldn't be a bad Idea to get a data logger... it's better than wasting your money on flashing LEDs they call an A/F gauge, plus you can check and remove any Check Engine Light.. that's about it, and you'll already have it when you get your afc, boost controller, larger turbo, injectors, etc... I'm waitin on my logger, and its holdin up my tuning.. I'm supposed to dyno next week!!!!

Thanks for the reply
I was thinking the other day. If i were to get the Pocketlogger OBDII ( scanmaster tool is almost 2x more expensive). it would be around 150ish not including palm pilot.
I want to build a 11sec dsm later on. Should i spend the extra for dsmlink? (I have a labtop already) So i dont need to get it later. Or will a safc or maf translator be a solid choice for early 11's?

Keep in mind. Its a 95 tsi.

It's a 95 which means you probably have an eprom ecu. You're already on your way to link. It would be a good idea.

If you don't have the money for it right now, a datalogger would be a great idea. It will help dignose problems and just make sure you're running right. You could always resell it and recoup much of your cost.

*edit* While I'm not experienced with tuning I would think you would want link or something of similar ability to do 11's. I'm sure it's possible with a SAFC or even MAFT, but it will be easier and safer with good control.

Thanks
I thought about it and if i have the money and e-prom, ill go dsmlink. Even if its un-modded.
When i have enough $$ ill get the 660's. EVOIII, Re-wired 190, BC, Intake & Exhaust and hope to shoot for 11's. Even a 11.99. :D Keep in mind, i already have the 2gmas for the tdo5h-16g.

Ill post when i work out a deal on this car. Maintenance is#1 though. Hopefully it doesnt need a lot of work or walk on me when i get the car.
