Okay well i have a n/a 92 talon and the idle stop sensor or i'm not exactly sure what it's called but it's above the intake manifold and my car used to surge everytime the clutch was down or i'm stopped. So, i unplugged it and it magically stopped surging but now idles at 2400 rpms... i need to know what this sensor is called so i can go out and buy one and not look like a d-bag even tho i ###### look one on here at this moment... but o well any help would be nice!

You must be thinking of the throttle open/closed switch...Its located on the top side of the throttle body and only has one wire going to it correct? If we are on the same page, replacing this sensor will not solve your surging idle. That sensor only tells the ECU if the throttle is open or closed. When you disconnect this switch it is normal for the engine to idle high because it thinks the throttle is open (even though the TPS% doesn't report a change). Your surging idle is probably caused but the ISC, it's located on the bottom side of the throttle body and has 6 pins.

Before you go replacing anything, check them with an ohm meter. Here is the testing procedure for the ISC.

If it is determined to be defective, a replacement can be found here for $25 guaranteed and shipped.

Thanks! So this is under the throttle opening/closing switch? Cause thats the wire i unplugged and it seems to idle high but doesn't surge any more, but this seems to be the problem so ill try this out and see if it works and what not and leave some feedback on what happens. Thanks again

It's called the Idle Position Switch. The ECU doesn't check for a high idle if it's disconnected but then it doesn't do any of the other things it's designed to do when the throttle closes either that way.

A bad ISC can cause a hign idle but so can a bad FIAV or vacuum leaks including a missing BISS.

Hey Steve, Can a bad FIAV cause a ISC CEL? I replaced my ISC because I was getting a CEL along with idle surge with a new OEM unit from DSMISC.com and it didnt solve my problem. The only boost leak I know I have is from my EGR, the vac line just wont stay on. I have two other possible sources for the problem of the surge and purhaps you could help me out some.

Could unhooked coolant lines to the TB cause the surge?
Could the unhooked EGR vac line cause it?

If it is indeed the FIAV, how hard is to to replace it? Could I use the one from my spare 2g TB or maybe from a spare 90 TB I have lying around?
