Hey my oil pan is crushed in at the bottom near the oil pickup... How do i kno if the pickup was damaged? Does the pan use a gasket or just RTV sealant?

you can get an actual gasket from dsmparts.com but you could use some ultra grey also...as for the oil pick up bit...if its more than an inch you got problems...if not your good

i dont mean to hack the thread, but mine is also dented. like the bottom of the oil pan is dented....are there any problems that could be caused by this.

going to get my motor rebuilt so its all gonna be taken apart. is it possible to just hammer the dent out?

If your pan is dented noticably I would recommend you take it off and bend it back. You wouldn't want your pickup to only be getting a limited amount of oil to your engine. Your pickup may be fine but the flow could be restricted. You can hammer the dent out as long as there aren't any holes in the pan. As for the gasket question, I always just use RTV instead of a gasket. Anytime I used a gasket it leaked so I only use RTV now.

ok. when we take the motor apart, we'll dent the pan back out. a lot cheaper than a new one!!!!
