Hey all, i've been contemplating a turbo swap for some time now and i've ran into some roadblocks. I wanted to do a t28, but I've heard that the t28 spools still a little too fast (Hence since I am FWD I will still have traction issues.) Some of suggested a bigger turbo which spools a little slower as a better application. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really don't plan on taking making my car any faster than 13s in the 1/4 miles and no more than 310hp. I still wouldl ike my car to be a reliable daily driver with some extra grunt if I need it. Any suggestions would be great.

310hp on a daily driver is not going to be easy, when I had a FWD with only 270 hp the car wanted to change lanes(not fun!) a laggy turbo isn't fun either in a daily driver, i would stick with the T28, drag radials and LSD would make a huge difference but than i would'nt consider it a daily driver on drag radials.

did you do a real LSD, or did you put in the SBR LSD?
either way.... how hard was installation???

I wouldnt say a 16g is laggy by any means but you will be very happy with this turbo. Also when I got my karking lsd which is similar to a quaife it was night and day difference. To the post above I did not install mine,I took my tranny out and had a trans shop install it.

I would also say an 16G, just be sure and get the "real" 16g no one of the knock offs from china or somewhere, my belief is to help support one of our supporting venders and keep the money in the US.
their are lots of treads on this with pics showing the diference. spend the money on a quality product.

DISCLAMER: I am only recomending this turbo because you stated you want 300 hp. and
13's in the quarter
if you want or even think you will want more in the future. :thumb: go bigger now and buy the right part the first time.
the 16g does have more lag than a stocker, which will help you.

so flow wise, how would you compare a t28 to 16g? How much of a difference in CFMs are we looking it because I would like to save the trouble of getting an install kit for the 16g if I can just meet my goals with a t28.

Big T28, if it can hold boost a la the FP 17 psi actuator, has generally flowed 32-35 lbs/min airflow. With the 16g (big, Evo III) the average people see is a mid 35 lbs/min while others will only see 30 lbs/min, and yet others will see 44 lbs/min.

Thus, for 275-300 whp I'd say Big T28 with the 17 psi actuator, for a solid 300 whp or maybe a little more go for the Evo III, and if you're looking for 350 or more go with a T04E 50 trim.

Ok thanks 2gGSX I think i'll probably end up sticking to the Big T28 since it will most likely get me to the goals that I want for my car. Thanks a bunch everyone.
