Hey guys just bought a VR4 not to long ago - and I'm wondering on afew things. It has a 6bolt in it (1991) but are there differs in the drivetrain? Its a 4 lug instead of a 5 lug, and I've yet to look and see if the rear is 3 bolt or 4 bolt... are the transmissions the same (1st Gens) in the VR4 as with a AWD DSM? Just got me wondering since after all I saw less lugs, not sure what else is different with the drivetrain, wondering if I'll be able to swap AWD regular parts in, clutches - ect,.

Thanks.

The galant has pretty much the same tranny. The 1st gear is about 5mph longer than the 1st in other DSM's. Which is pretty nice. Im not sure about the rear, my buddys is a 3bolt I think. Im pretty sure you can swap to 5lugs some how.

Transmission is different, like JayRolla said, GVR-4's have a longer first gear. The rear end is a basic 3-bolt non-lsd, with the housing adapted for the AWS pump. The axles are the same as a DSM. Everything will swap over, but if you want to swap a 4-bolt and keep the AWS, you'll have to change the internals over on the rear diff.

Yeah like most current VR4s of today, the rear steering lines have already been 'clamped' I don't plan on reinstalling. I do want to put a 4 rear in it, but like I've said I've yet to get under it and check. Thanks for the fast replies like always guys. :thumb:
