I was driving home from work the other day when my car turned off while I was driving. I pushed in the clutch and tried turning it over but it didn't work. I also tried pop starting it since I was moving and it didn't turn over either. I coasted into a gas station and found out that my ignition fuse popped. I put another 30amp fuse in there so i could at least roll up my windows and as so as I turned the ignition on it popped again. Has this happened to anyone else?

I needed to get the windows up before I left the car in a bad spot. This is when I made a bad mistake and jumped the fuse with a screwdriver. I got the windows up and something started smoking from under my dash. I know something fried and it was a stupid idea.:toobad: Does anyone know what this might be? I'm trying to trace wires to the ignition box but I cant find it. I'm very good under the hood but when it comes to electrical I get confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First give everything a good look over to see if anything is visually fried or melted. I would keep a eye on everything for smoke when you try this procedure.

Well you best bet is to replace the ignition fuse and pull all the other fuses. Start replacing the fuses one by one until the ignition fuse pops again. Then you know what circuit has the short. Once you find that then you can trace that curcuit and fix the original problem.

After that you will just have to go through all the electrical functions on the car to see if any were damaged.

For can find alot of wiring info on vfaq.com or get yourself a factory manual on CD.
