Ok I have a 99 gst spyder and have a Viper DEI remote with 4 butoons. I went to the shop and they wanted $200 to add a remote start to my car. They said that my Viper alarm have AUXILARY so I can use that to start it. I know that it's not that it shouldn't cost that much if I get a remote start using my alarm. My question is that what else would I need to get it started and hook up? I know I mught have to get like some remote start system for it. BUT WHAT. help. thanks.

just go here http://www.electronicgiant.net/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_111&products_id=8011 and buy a new DEI bad boy. I've purchaced 2 of these from this site. they are not the refurbed systems like other places sell for cheap. I actually paid 200 for the ones i got, but that was 6-9months ago. since you already have a DEI in your car, it will be a lot easier to hook up the 791xv alarm/remote start. this unit is extremely clean vs. using an add on remote start like a 551R (that's what it was when i was doing it for a living) or whatever the add on one is now. hope this helps

92rsawd what about the Viper 790XV. It's about the same thing but just an older model. Alos how good does your viper 791xv performs? reply back. thanks.

both of them perform great! one of them is in a 2004 dodge ram 3500 cummins turbo diesel and the other is in a 95 tahoe. the one in the ram is doing all 4 windows on separate channels. its nice that it has so many outputs on it.

I've never had the opportunity to install the 790xv, but from what i'm told, the range on the 791xv is better and they changed a few other minor things that most of us don't really care about.

It would be quite easy to replace the one that's in your car now with the new one. DEI has been using the same wiring colors for about 10 years now, and there's only a few extra wires you would have to hook up. If you can hook up a turbo timer or a MAF Translator, you can follow the instructions to wire up the remote start.

If you need wiring help, just let me know and i can get you the wiring info for your car.:thumb:

92rsawd I just went and bought a viper 790vx for a very good price. now going to install it and removing the old viper. help me if you can. thanks.

I have the 791xv and I like it a lot it remote starts my car for me and it also acts as a turbo timer aswell. It also has saved my car from a broken window once aswell.

I would also want my car to have a remote start and with my pen apexi turbo timer.

That will still work. If you go to the12volt.com and get on their forums and search for turbo timer, there are directions on how to hook it up so you can still arm your car with the turbo timer running. I did it on my civic, just cant remember off the top of my head as to how i did it without the alarm freaking out. would have been a lot easier if i would have known about the12volt.com back when i did mine.

go buy a 570t.. its a really nice remote start. really basic hookup. and it will work with your alarm. u can pick them up for around 60bucks
