Hey, got a quick question. When i drive my 92 Laser rs with an upgraded Clutchmaster 6-Puck Sprung Clutch, when i go from 1st to second i get a minor grind. It happens on and off. It doesnt really bother me other then the fact that the problem will probably grow into a much larger event. It not a large grind, it like when im putting it into 2nd gear midway into all the way in, i get the grind. I wanna say syncro but i really have no idea what i'm talking about. I hear my clutch is pretty good at wrecking transmissions, but thats just word of mouth. Again this problem is rare when i take EXTREME care when im shifting it makes little to no noise. if anyone can share with me what this problem is, and if i should rip the trans out now. or wait.. thanks

Welcome to DSMs. Nearly EVERYONE has issues with 1-2 shifts. Mine has a minor grind just as your described but its nothing to worry about. My buddy's 91 has the same issue but is a few times worse.

You can try changing your tranny fluid to Redline MTL90 or BG SyncroShift along with skateboard bearing and symbroski mod.

Make sure the clutch is not grabbing at the floor, it should grab about 1/2 way up so when you shift the clutch is absolutely disengaged. Next adjust the cables at the linkage in the car. If everything is adjusted properly you can run syncromesh or syncroshift but its a temporary fix, eventually your due for a rebuild. If its a daily driver and you just kick the car around town, not a big deal but if your a weekend warrior expect to have the trans out sooner than later.
