dump question

Sup guys I need to ask a question. My girl surprised me by ordering a SSAutochrome Dump for my E. Psi 16G that I should be getting any day know. My question is what size is the bottom of the dump is it 2.5 or 3 in. . I was wondering becuase I want to get a 3 in downpipe for my GST. Any answers will be greatful..

Your talking about an O2 dump? What kind? Does it have an open pipe from the wastegate, does it have the external wastegate mount? does it recirculate your wastegate back to your downpipe? You could match it up with pics from ssautochrome on ebay, find out what model it is i'm sure you could out for sure.. But can't you just measure it yourself? If you cant get a good OD(outer diameter) pipe measurement, measure the circumference(distance around it). And if all you have is tape measurer take a piece of yarn or thread and run it around it up by the flange and cut or mark to length, then measure that with your tape measurer. then take the circumference and divide it by Pi(3.14), and that should be your diameter, roughly.
C=Pi*D
or, D=C/Pi

More then likely its 2 1/2 inches. as the majority of DP are 2 1/2 inches and they goto 3" after the flex section in the DP. There's very few that are 3 at the turbo because you don't really need to be 3" unless your pushing massive amounts of air.

They have a few different models they call a "dump" housing. They do say its 3" on that one though, funny. I'd still measure it to verify. And if it is 3" make sure the DP you get is 3" at the flange to the O2 housing. Most will say 3" but thats after flex.. Or have an exhaust shop make it.

Actually I have a good girlfriend, she loves DSM more than I do. She is looking for a 2G GST or AWD. I have already told her if she gets a AWD it mine not hers. She ordered it while I was at work. I might as well go ahead an order a 3in downpipe if its a 2.5 the shop will just have to make it fit. Know let me ask you this if is a open dump how will this affect my car.

I have heard about these headers, her dad is going to check the welds=(dad is qualified welder mig/tig)
it says nothing about the size of the dump. Any info will help, If anybody has used this header/dump let me know.

You might save a couple bucks if you find out the size now then havening to have a shop modify it later..
Does that "dump pipe" recirculate back to your DP? It looks like it does, which really wouldn't be a dump, it would just be a tubular.. You might see a little gains off this, faster spoolup, maybe a little more topend.
Have her dad check the welds and weld extra supports to it. If hes a pro welder and tells you it's crap I might be inclined to return it. Some people have luck with these, some don't. It seems there older version of the manifold posed the most problems, as they used thinner steal and no supports.

And make sure, if you do get 3", It has to be 3" at the O2 Housing.. I know I said it before, but the majority of DP being sold say they're 3". But it's only 3" after the flex section in the pipe, the front of it being 2 1/2 or 2 3/4.. You might just get an exhaust shop to make the whole DP for you..
