Before i go out and waste more money please help me out.i've purchased a '93 eagle tlaon 2wd non turbo.i've done searches all day on this site(im new here) and well i still do not know the differences between the 6bolt and 7bolt motors.im not sur eif either or one is obd-1 and te other ovd-2 or anything.i did check out the articles aobut the differences in 1g and 2g dsm's.can someone please help me on these few questions ?

1. whats the diff between the 6bolt and 7bolt motors ?
2. what obd are the certain year cars ?
3. and is there anything i should know about these cars thats highly important when buying/trading for one ?

All 1gs are OBDI and all 2gs are OBDII. They actually started mass production with the OBDII port in 1996. The main difference between 6 bolt and 7 bolt motors is that 7bolts in 2gs are known to "crankwalk" (search that term) and 6 bolt motors generally do not. Even though there have been cases where 6bolts do crankwalk its very uncommon. When people say 6 or 7 bolt they are referring to the number of bolts on the flywheel. 90-92.5 came with a 6 bolt and anything later than that had a 7bolt. Although 1g 7bolts are less prone to crankwalk. Its highly recommended to get a 6/4 combo. There are things from different years people tend to like such as the 90' external oil cooler, there is tons of research you can do. The things you can do are: Check for strut rust, make sure that maintenence has been kept up to date, see if the car makes any wierd noises, shifts smooth, check for any leaks underneath the car, shaft play in the turbo, there are countless other things to check for I just tried to point out some big ones.

I really appreciate the help.this answers all my questions.although after posting this i did more search and came across the 6/7bolt answer.but im still going through the 1k dsm answers and all the tech articles.but there is one more question .. is it possible to do a straight forward swap into a 92.5-94 model w/using the 90-91 engine ? thanks.
