Sussex,
i have a 90 TSI awd and when it is cold it will idle but after like 30 seconds and itr begoins to warm up it will not idle????

I see in your profile you have done some motor work. Did you hook all of your vacuum lines up right? How is the condition of your plugs and are they gaped right? What about the wires?

I have the SAME problem!!! its driving me crazy and there are about a million things that it would be! I made a list tonight after about 3 hours reading forums and FAQ pages so ill tell you a few things i think it could be! and if you get your fixed PLEASE tell me what you did!
-Make sure you don't have any leaks in your vacuum lines or any of your turbo piping
-There is a think called a speed sensor reed switch that can cause this problem (I'm not going to go into detail but you can read into that if you want)
-Sometimes it can be a problem with the gas your buying i heard something about oxygenated gas but I don't think that would actually kill your car
-Check your oxygen sensor if you have an aftermarket down pipe sometimes people forget to re connect the ground and that causes your engine to run rich
-Make sure your spark plugs and wires are good
-You can block off your EGR valve that might help
-you can always adjust your idle with the BISS but that might not actually fix the actual problem
-check your fuel filter
-and there is some weird thing like if your stock boost gauge doesn't work there is a problem with your MAS

i hope maybe one of these things helps you! some of it may be totally bull but there just some things maybe you can look into more!

I bought the car this way so i dunno if the vaccuum lines are correct, the wires are new and the plugs are too ... but i will check the gap of the plugs in the morning

Jay rolla... the car will idle till it begins to warm up then it will begin to die but if you grab the throttle and increase the rpmit will run but , it will not idle on its own it will just die

and Eagle18g thanks for the list ill be workin on the car tommorrow night when i get home from work if i figure it out ill let you know

SO! i worked on my car this afternoon and i cahecked all the stuff i told you to check and i found some stuff on my car its prob not the same for you but i have the same problem so it might be helpful. Fist i took out the batery and batery tray so i could get a good look at where all the vacume lines come together. the only think i noticed there was all the lines come together and go into the charcoal can or what ever it is. they go in and there is this thing that comes out but it dosent conect to anything. Also this is what i was really concerned about i pulled my spark plugs and one was full of oil and i have no idea why im guesseing one of these things i causing it so that whats wrong with mone did you check anything on yours?

are you open atmosphere on your blow off valve because if you are that could be the dieng problem thats how my car was for a while then went to after market blow off valve and it quit

I got mine all figured out. It was a broken EGR valve. When they break they stick open and dump exhaust gases into your engine. Needless to say my ening was getting owned so i blocked it off and now im good to go!!!!! :D :thumb:
