6 bolt head preparation

i just bought a used 6 bolt head. hasnt arrived yet, but i was wondering what i would have to do before putting it on my soon to be rebuilt short block. any cleaning or anything? thanx

I'd get it rebuilt if you are putting it on a new engine.

Definatly. Get the head crack checked and the springs tested to see if they need replaced. Check for leaking from burnt valves make sure the seats are still good and nothing is getting by. Have it get decked as well to ensure it's straight.

Take it to a machine shop and have the following done......1. Hot Tanked 2. Pressure Tested 3. Ports Vacuum Checked......If it passes all these then your ok. If not than your machine shop will give you your options.
