Please Help. Balance shaft removal

So I started to take apart the car to do the balance shaft removal. I got most of the stuff appart and when I took off the front cast cover now im a little confused. So the front BS comes out and so did the shaft for the oil pump attached to it. Im reading thru the VFAQ and I dont understand the part where you have to use the blockoff bearings? were do those go? On the case it self i already blocked off the balance shaft but now on the engine itself what goes were? Thanks.

seems to me like you shoulda read it over and over before you started but i'll give it a shot. if its anything like a 1g (which it probably is but correct me if im wrong) once you eliminate the LEFT balance shaft(if your looking at it from the driver side tire to the passenger side) you MUST rotate the 2 bearings that feed the actual shaft oil so that the holes on the block and bearing dont match up or else you will not have the right oil pressure. trust me i learned the hard way. the hardest part is gunna be poppin those bearings off you can search the forum to see what people use.

you dont have to do anything to the right side bearing wise. all you must do is just take apart the oil pump cover and just replace the shaft with the little stubby one that is supplied in the kit(if you got the BSEK). i know it can be a little confusing but just keep reading till you get it. hope this helps.

Is it necessary to change the front bearing so that the holes dont match up? On the bottom of the vfaq.com its says it is not necessay but that u lose some oil pressure. I mention this because with the motor in the car its hard to find movement to take out the bearins.

yeah it is necessary if you plan on eleminating the shaft. But if you leave the left shaft in (the one thats NOT connected to the oil pump) you dont have to rotate them. yea i did my balance shaft elemination with my motor in the car and i just eliminated both shafts all together. i just unbolted the front motor mount and let the mottor drop a tad bit. heres the link to the BSEK itself

Now sure how the 1g is with engine space but the 2g bearly has enough room to take out the front shaft and no more to pound on it to take out the bearing. Im using this kit

I got the plug and stub that are at the bottom already in the case. Why is there two more things left?

You don't need to take the front left bearing out. It will just cause minor loss of oil pressure. Very little though. For the rear you just install the stubby shaft. I think you were there when I did Ruben's and I didn't take out the bearing and there was no difference in oil pressure. The other plug I didn't use and the bearing you can use or not. If you can't get the other out then just leave it in.

Thank You, Adam right? haha I was there for ruben's install but I got there when you were bolting things back up. I also called Ruben just today to ask him on what you had done to his car with the bearings and he told me the exact same thing . Will take my chances with out removing bearings and hope for the best . Maybe this can help others that have a 2g and are wondering.

One more question for this thread. Last night my right(back) balance shaft spun the bearing out. i already have the balance shaft eliminator kit. i have read up on this subject. i think im just going to leave the front shaft in and remove the back BS. but my question is the bearing that is on the end of the right shaft(closet to the trans) will it hurt to leave it out. the forums stated that u did not need to cover the oil holes up on the right shaft.

Ok im gonna answer my own question. i went ahead and removed the oil pump and the rear balance shaft which was stuck in the oil pump. i check out the block where the bearing was and there is no oil hole. so everything should be good to go with the new oil pump and eliminator kit.

i should have done the BS eliminator kit along time ago i had the kit just didnt want to go through the trouble and it cost me a new oil pump.

With the kit you get 2 bearings and a treaded shaft that is short and a plug the plug goes where the small t belt was connected to that gear opposite of the oil pump the bearings on in side where the bs were you will see holes in the stock bearings remove them and install these or you could turn the oem ones and the treaded shaft goes where the oil pump side..
