ok im new to everything but trying to learn the more i read the more i hear about 6 bolt engines and 4 bolt rear ends so i take it this is the best setup?? well im looking into buying a 1g awd and have heard that only 1994 models come with a 6 bolt??? also how can u tell visually that it is a 6 bolt engine??? i also heard that the only way to know what engine is in the car is by the crankshaft and how many bolt are on the flywheel so as i said before i dont own a dsm yet but want to know enough to feel comfortable buying one this spring any help is appreciated thanks!!! hope this is the right area to post this

You are correct on knowing how to find out if its a 6 bolt by looking at the fly wheel. 6 bolt motors came in the 90-92.5 talons,eclipses, and lasers. Im not sure about which ones came with a 4 bolt though

only 1989-1992(mid 92) are 6bolt.
You can tell the difference much easier by looking at the oil pan:
