Resolved AWD system ruined after towing it?

I have a buddy just bought a AWD tsi and he towed it about 2 hrs from wear it was sitting for about 6 years is a field, all the way home. Now everyone is telling his its ruined and the whole thing is junk. The other owner ran it out of oil and it stopped running thats why it was sitting there comments? thoughts?

How did he tow it? If all wheels were off the road then it's fine. If he towed it with the front wheels off and the rear wheels on the road like on a dolly or something, then you might want to look at it.

it was all 4 wheels on the ground.
