Hey everyone, I'm a new member but i've been looking around here for a while, reading, learning, and searching. I've become very interested in the idea of an DSM. I'm looking into buying a 1992 Mit. Eclipse GS, with the 135hp DOHC engine, 150k miles, and a 5spd.

My questions are these - what should I look at when buying this car? The second question is what kind of mods would be best done if I am looking for 300-350 WHP? What would be the most cost friendly mods to do this?

well first off, i would have to suggest a gst (fwd turbo) or gsx (awd turbo) THose will get you 300hp In no time. If you get a n/t you will most likely need to fab up a turbo kit. It has been done i even beleive there is a DIY in the tech forums. You should look for as close to stock as possible. Try to get service records with the car aswell. With the n/t your def. going to put a turbo kit on to acheive 300whp whereas a gst/gsx will acheive that with less money. Its up to you. Good Luck

Whats wrong with a 2g? They are stylish. Watch out for crankwalk though ROFL . Just kidding. Your usually safe if you have a motor passed 70k.

How much do you have to spend? I would look for awd turbo or gst. No offense to n/a owners but I have had 2 n/a eclipse's and they are not worth it. Have you ever driven a turbo charged dsm vs n/a dsm? Big difference. I dont know if your mr2 is turboed but if you have never had a turboed car you gotta have one. I used to have an 02 wrx, and after getting rid of it, n/a sucks! Bye the way, AWD is the s#$%! Nothing beats an AWD launch off the line. Just my .02. good luck with what ever you get.
