ois there any benifits from putting a 2g awd tranny in a 1g?

sup guys, it might sound dumb but is there any benift to putting a 2g tranny in a 1g? we all heard of 1g trannys going in 1st and 2nd and ive never really heard anything to bad about a 2g tranny. ive already been told you can do it, now im just wondering if i would benift any from it beside the 2g tranny being newer? thanks

Gear ratios are the same between the 1g and 2g tranny if you compare apples to apples(fwd-fwd and awd-awd). http://www.vfaq.com/mods/Trannies.html

The syncronizers changed in 93 which improved shifting qualities(1-2 and 2-3) but overall, everything else stayed the same. The 2g tranny works fine in the 1g but internally, it is the same as 93-94 1g trannies.

I guess your right because my friends awd 2g has different gear ratios than my 1g.
But i even have a 2g gst friend and his seemed different as well... But I do believe the 2g trannys were refined a little more than 1g trannies, I havent heard of too many 2gers with grinding notchy shifting like I constantly find in 1gs. ( especially from going into 2nd gear)

The 2g gsts 1st gear is slightly longer. ( which to me is better when your car revs fast. )
That must be where I seen the difference in the two trannies because I have driven both cars before.

As far as 1g and 2g awd they are all the same. In my opinion the 1g n/t has the best 1st/2nd/ gear ratios.
The awds gear ratios are pretty pitiful in my opinion, there all too short. ( According to that chart )

If I could make up my own gear ratios Id do it like this
1st- 45mph
2nd-75mph
3rd and 4th- ( a gst 3rd and 4th gear are ok )
5th- ( Over 180mph )

You nor anyone else would ever be able to tell that there is .007 in gear ratio between the 2 just by driving it. That little of a difference would equate to about 10-15 rpm difference for the same mph. Actually, that is either a misprint or a more rounded # for later cars because the drive and driven gear tooth count is the same on both.

I believe those are the speeds for at 10k rpm's, I take my 1G to 7200rpm, and thats like 63mph in 2nd.

I put a 2G 5 speed into my one car, hooked to a 1G motor, and the synchros are alot better than the 1G.
