Hey i was coming home today from visiting my mom (in my jeep) and i park in front of the garage door and then i walk in to my house (never went into the garage or opened it). A couple of minutes of being inside i hear like a loud car outside, so i ask my gf to look who was parked outside she said no one and then she was leaving to go to the bar and runs back up and was like it in the garage. i went out there and i heard my car running then i asked my gf to hit the opener and then the noise stopped. it opened and there was smoke everywhere and the car had been on. i cant figure it out. creeps the hell out of me. anyone ever heard of this or got any ideas seriously im at a loss how my car started and ran in a locked garage with no doors or windows and no keys and it was in the off position!!!

hehe... My guess would be that somthing else in your garage was running, not your car. do you have a lawn mower in there? or any kind of power tools?? maybe a freakin rat chewed through a drill that you had plugged in, it shorted out and started up, fried the rat and then when your gf opened the garage door magically unplugged the drill.... just maybe! either that or somebody (human or spirit) thought it would be funny to mess with you like this... LOL

Can you give us any more details? Are you sure the engine was running? Where was the smoke coming from? Did the noise stop immediately after you opened the door? Are you high?

No 100% certain the car was running the manifold was really hot and there was the carbon all over the door cause my car spits. and it was all over the spot where it would have been if it was running with the door closed

you either have a really weird electrical problem or you need to call the ghostbusters...

I had a rat chew through the wirring in my oven once, shorted out two wires where my timer box was, and I came home a few weeks later to the oven on. It was probably something other then the car running though.

no rats the wiring looks fine that i can see everything looks fine and works fine no rats. and it was 100% GARUNTEED THE CAR WAS RUNNING

First. Last month the issue started. I took out the aftermarket alram, and havn't had a problem since. It must of just been a coincedence.

Here is my issue.

It doesn't happen all the time. When Im driving my starter engages, as if I was turning over the car. So I turned it off, and it still kept cranking with the key in my hands, and the clutch let go. There is a loud noise comming from something in the center councole while this is happening.

I know the starter need to be changed, becuse for a slight second it always sticks after start up. But I am thinking this is more than a starter issue. I think it might have something to do with a nuetral safty switch, or ignition problem,

I will hopfully be changeing the starter tomorrow. So I will update if it changes.

I was jsut wondering if this has happened to anyone before, and what they did to correct the situation.

Thank You,
Bruce.

Ya checked the garage has no doors or windows, the key slot was in the off position, no wires had been tampered with or touched, the car turned off while i was on the other side of the door so i know there was no one in there

I havent had this problem but similar in my tiburon. The aftermarket alarm, did it have a remote start installed? (And also since yours isnt an auto, did it have a piezo switch installed)

I personally havent heard of this problem before. But just a guess of what it might be.

the two terminals on the back of the starter if some how one of the wires connects them both together. in example your power wire is loose and contacts both terminals it will turn your starter over and you wont need your keys in the ignition. if that made any sense.
