I already looked, but nothing helped.

I need the crank sprocket off, already have all the bolts our and the pulley and all that good stuff. Belt is off the car. Im trying to slide the sprocket off but its stuck. I sprayed it down with PB blaster, but its not enough to break it loose. I cant fit a screw driver behind it like some people have done, and there are broken bolts in all the holes so I dont see how I could use a harmonic dampener pulley thing.......

So what should I do? Ive hitten it already, cant pry it off, cant slide it off, nothing will screw into it(unless I thread up some new holes) and I dont know what else I can do with this.

Oh yea, I woud put the pulley back on, and use that as leverage, but as I said, the bolts are inside the sprocket.

Any help would be great, or if there is already something out there let me know, I couldnt find it.

FYI the sprocket is behind the crank pulley. Your gonna have to drill them bolts out and pry off the pulley from the sounds of it. I never had a problem removing the bolts and just sliding it off. Where you going with this anyways, timing belt replacement?

It sounds like you have the crank pulley off already. Once you remove the crank sprocket bolt in the center of the sprocket, use a puller to do the job. It can take a bit of pressure to break it loose but it will come off. Prying at it from only one side will not work. It needs to be pulled from opposite sides with the same amount of force to come straight off.

Ok sweet. Yes, the pulley is off.

I wasnt sure if those pullers would work since theres really nothing to grip onto.

Ill get some tomarrow and have a go at it. Ill let you know how it goes. Thanks a lot.
---luckly I got a few different ones at work, so screw the parts store :p

Oh yea, for Dans?....

Im completely replacing the pulley and sprocket. The bolts holding the pulley on broke off inside the sprocket. Dont know what happened to the pulley, but I am replacing the sprocket cause its too much hassle to drill and re-tap everything. I got the replacements and everything ready to go, just waiting to get to the point of putting them on.
bought the car like this, not sure how it happened.

God cha sorry I misunderstood, good luck! :thumb:

Well since you are going to have the sprocket and timing belt off, might as well replace it unless you know it was done recently. Check the tensioner, other pulleys, and the balance shaft belt, and may want to think of replacing the water pump too. If you know how long ago this stuff was done then it may not need it. Just an idea. How many miles does it have?

I don't thing a jaw type puller would work, where would it grab? I think these guys are talking about using a bolt type puller...

I am replacing the sprocket and pulley, along with all the belts....

Ill do the tensioner and water pump and all that good stuff this coming spring. Im gonna pull the engine for all that, just want it running right now so I know it works ok.

I hope I can get the puller in there though, tight fit.
And I hope I dont need the bolt puller, otherwise Id have to drill and retap everything, and tahts just a pain in the ass...
But thanks. Hopefully I can do this wed...No time till then.
