Steel Seal Dose it work?

I've never used that specific brand before, so I can't tell you how well it works. However I have used a dozen similar products with little to no success. What do you have a blown headgasket? 50bucks for the steal seal, I'd rather by a headgasket and change it out myself in a couple hours..

It does sound interesting though.

yea i was just curious for the amount i can spend on that steel seal i can almost get a head gasket but if i do a HG dont i need alot more components like timming belt, tensonors, water pump ect....

Yeah,if you haven't or if they need to be replaced, it's a good oppertunity.. But if they already need to be replaced the steel seal isn't going to help, haha. How many miles do you have on the car/on the timing job?

well the odometer reads 134,000 but when i bought the car it was A/T it had bluetops in it the manual manifold and a 14b so i realy dont know if the odometer is right. last time i checked the compression it was all good numbers.

Yeah if its 134k and you have no idea when the timing belt was done, the IDEA is to replace it, your tensioner pulleys, the automatic tensioner, and get a balance shaft block off kit..
It'd save you money down the road if you happen to snap that belt and have to rebuild your head and maybe replace your pistons, and then you still have to do the timing job.
haha
Good luck!
FYI the recommend service interval of the belt is 60k miles.

Well the last time my car got fixed at my local dsm shop they told me they could still see the numbers and all that stuff on the timming belt they told me it was fairly new. but if i do HG i should change the timming belt anyways

Yup, as long as you are in there, go ahead and change out the timing belt. As others have mentioned, it would also be a good time to get rid of the balance shafts, replace the pullies, tensioner, and waterpump.

Also, with a car with more than 100,000 miles, a quick resurface of the head, valvejob, and some new seals wouldn't be a bad idea either.

There are tons of other things you could do as well, if you are going to have the head off such as replace the knock sensor, misc. gaskets and seals, etc. But it's really up to how much money you want to spend, and how much work you want to do.
