AFPR, is it necessary?

i have a 255lph walbro fuel pump with 880cc injectors on a 1g engine with a pte50 dbb turbo. i would like to know what is the reason for the aeromotive fuel pressure regulator and if it is really necessary? i dont want to have to spend $200 if it isnt necessary.

Yes it is necessary. During cruise / idle the amount of fuel moved by the FP exceeds the amount that the stock FPR can deliver back to the tank. Normally, at WOT this isn't a problem because the vehicle is using sigificantly more fuel than it does at idle.

If you have a fuel pump that flows more then a Wally 190, then an AFPR is nessisary. There are loads of threads floating around in a couple different sections on here. Like spyderturbo007 said at idle/cruising speeds you will over run the stock FPR, but at WOT when our cars start to guzzle it won't. Also don't get a B&M FPR it's just a piggy back to the stock, and will be over run just the same, so you won't be provided with a true 1:1 ratio of fuel pressure.
