No X-fer case

Since i am still searching for a 23 spline x-fer case, i was wondering if i can drive my car about 40 feet, out of the shop, to a parking spot without the x-fer case attached.
I need to get the car out of the shop by later tonight, dunno if i am going to have any friends around that are sober enuff to help me by the time i finish up.(big game day)
Any input?

Hook the sixer, and dangle it in front of said vehicle. Request assistance from the drunken assemblage, at least one or two will stumble outside to assist you...
