I just check the resistance on my isc pins and they are all good. I know i saw in one forum that someone had an isc that was sticking and all they did was clean it up and put some wd40 on it but i can't find it again.

Any idea if i can hurt it if i use brake cleaner or something to clean it up then spray with wd40 to help it open and close easily.
 
Please let us know the result of cleaning your ISC. Steps would be appreciated :)

I'm also having stalling problems whenever I let up on the gas and also suffering from the "hunting" idle problem.

Electrical contact cleaner is best, but if your ISC is old, like 90K miles on it or more, it is likely fried and no amount of cleaning will help it for very long.
 
Any suggestions on where to buy a replacement ISC? I have seen them for 20 bucks used, but not sure if that's worth the trouble, putting a used one in. I don't really want to spend 275 bucks (or whatever) for a new one either. Does anyone rebuild them?
 
It is a hell of a lot cheaper to get a used isc motor off a wrecked car, I bought two from a u-pull-it and both are still working fine.
 
BTW, just to confirm--will an ISC from any 1G work? They are pretty much interchangeable between 91 and 94 and between turbo/NT, right?

Yea, I just found that website--thanks for the tip. Looks promising, still too much $$ at this point. I went to a U-Pull yard this morning. Pretty funny--the 8 or so DSMs had been completely picked over. All throttlebodies were completely gone.

On the forums here you frequently see guys talking about yards where you can get this or that sensor, goody or otherwise useful part just buy looking over the junkers and taking what you want. Well, I haven't seen a yard like that for a few years now here in Ohio.

Most (all?) yards around here pick all the good sellable stuff off the car before it even is released to the yard- meaning harnesesses, ecu, motor sensors, throttle body assemblies and basically anything else that is easy to remove and sell off the car, cataloged and warehoused in some behind-the-counter area that you cant get to.

And if the yard itself doesnt pull these parts, the pro parts-picking gangs that hover over these places will finish the work for em. You'll recognize these guys because they live out of their vans and pickups parked right out side the yard. And then you have to buy it on eBay.

So that is more or less how it is here- anyone else have the same experience?
