has anyone rebulit a auto trans themselfs? i searched and couldnt really find what i was looking for. iam just wondering how diffcult it is, ive rebulit ford transmissions but never a import trans. is there any special tools i would need or anything that is a major pita? another quick question does anyone make higher amp alternators for 1g's. any input would be greatly apeciated

I helped rebuild one on my buddys GMC.
It was intense to say the least.
Although i'm facing an A/T rebuild on my talon soon, I've been studying all the A/T teardowns for it. I would suggest start there, get a factory service manual/cd, they have great automatic sections/overhaul info.
And yes the do make higer amp alternators
http://www.4alterstart.com/ 135amp
also canadian model alternators are 90amp
A local shop might be able to rebuild yours with some higher amperage as well.

are there anysites that have the tear down info on them. on ipt's site they have an atsg book on rebuliding the trans i was deffinelty planing on buying that.

I wonder if there book is just the factory A/T overhaul service manual.. If so it comes on the fsb CD..
I doubt its posted somewhere, I dont mind posting stuff from the manual, but there are hundreds and hundreds of pages on the A/T. haha
