Ok, so my buddy's 1995 Eagle Talon TSi has a stock regulator and a 255 lph pump. He bought it that way, and cant do much about it for now. I have a manual boost controller laying around and I was wondering if I relieved pressure from the regulator, would it not be overrun anymore.

I've tried and cannot find anything on how a fuel pressure regulator works.

Thanks for your help and understanding.

That wouldn't work. The fuel pressure regulator is overrun at idle, there is no pressure at idle, only vacuum. When the car is idling the fuel pressure regulator is attempting to lower the fuel pressure. The stock regulator doesn't have the capacity to relieve enough of that pressure. The only option is an aftermarket regulator, but don't get the B&M Commandflow, it doesn't work very well.

Pick up a aftermarket regulator. AEM makes a universal one and Aermotive makes a nice one for the car and can be upgraded with a gauge and mounting kit. They aren't too expensive. I recently picked one up myself for my walbro 255.
