Ive noticed when i start my car up in the morning that I have squeeky belts. I looked under the hood this afternoon after work and found that this belt looks like its really starting to fray.
in the pic i have circled which belt it is and im sorry about the angle and i will post new pics as soon as my camera starts working again. My timing belt cover is half off and it sticks out a bit and im thinking that might have something to do with the problem.

I dont see a picture on here but you sound like you are having the same problem i had. THe belts your talking about are your a/c, power steering, or alternator belts. And what caused mine to fray is that my crank pulley was cuming apart. So you might want to check that. Make sure the rubber doesnt have any cracks in it. Mine the only way i found out it was toast is that you could look down and see it moving in and out after i replaced my a/c belt and it frayed it again

sorry for making two posts with this, but i added the first picture wrong and it wouldnt let me post the pic unless it was uploaded. Got the pics. Sorry the quality is a little crappy all I have is my phone to take pics with. The large blob by that first gold nut you see is the fraying, the thing that looks like an 8 lane highway is the belt. once again sorry for the quality

you need to replace the belts...but to let you know, the front cover will not fray the belts...the belts will melt the cover though....if your car is not a daily driver i would suggest cutting the timing marks off the cover to where there is 4 bolt holes and put that on and discard the rest...the front cover is the biggest peice of crap

you could have a loose pulley. I had a problem similar. I was putting on new belts every 2300 miles. They would fray and wear real thin. Eventually, i noticed that the bracket the holds the powersteering pump/pulley was just slightly bent (coulnt even tell). Changed it out for another one i had and that solved my problems.
